Brass Elbows?

What makes them leak?
Mine has just started to drip - just wondered what actually wears on them - is there an internal seal that can't be accessed?
It's been on the reel for years.

If you take it off the reel and look inside it, there's an allen key slot (they can be very tight), undo it and wrap some ptfe around the thread. I do this when they're new and don't get any problems our Dave.

I just took it apart. Yes, there's an internal rubber seal inside too but looks impossible to change.

I tend to get a couple of years out of mine. As soon as they start to drip, I just replace. Can get them for about £10'on fleabay.

Internal seal is a oring size 14mm x2.5mm. Once you taken it apart get stanley knife and gently pry it out. It takes less than 5 min to replace it.

Hozelock use their own unique thread on the side of their reels, so you cannot get these brass elbows to fit.
