Owed On Average?
« on: August 19, 2015, 04:59:06 pm »
Do any of you guys keep a track of what you are currently owed by customers?

I know we can't collect all the money on time in that month (some pay late, some pay doubles),  but what's a healthy percentage to be owed?

I need to do more chasing, but for example, on one of my rounds (worth £2000) on average there's £300-£400 outstanding constantly, is that too much?

does it matter, as long as you get it in and dont leave them months on end.

Some weeks you could be owed £100 and others £1000+

According to "George" I am owed £2252 and looking at the "debt list" about £2150 is current (as in I know it will come as normal and is within 60 days) - for example I've three "commercial" emails telling me I will be paid by credit transfer tomorrow or Friday totalling £440.

The other £102 is old stuff between 8 months and 18 months old of dead, moved, dumped, disputed domestic stuff. I must clear it down sometime.
It's a game of three halves!

Usually anything between £500 and £1200.  It used to be rather more but my commercial work has decreased and residential work has increased.

It's only fine depending on what proportion that is to your round value? If you're owed £500 but your round is only worth £700, that's not good.  However if you're owed £2k and your round is worth £20k, then that's pretty good.

You know what I mean?

Normally up to 2k, got a large commercial dragging their  heels at the moment. Really tempted to dump them.

Who uses Go-cardless since I've insisted all bad payers either sign up or are cancelled

There not told there bad payers as there good priced jobs there just consumed with life and people can overlook or  forget, I get them to sign up takes 1 minute they all sign up
Then I'm in control of those bad payers

Currently £11,387.  Was a fair bit higher earlier this week.  One company in particular we do work for always takes ages to pay.  However I don't worry too much as the money does eventually come in and goes into my savings pot.  It's always the same middle of the year and end if the year.
Normally it hovers around £1500/£2000.

We have the usual ones who require a few texts but I. General it's manageable.

That's good mate. I'm going to start implementing that a lot more now. Lots of new customers go for it. I just wonder when GoCardless will out their rates up..

As long as your debt is in  proportion with your turnover don't worry about it too much  ;) as it will  eventually come in  ;D

How are you guys keeping going with that much owing? For quite a few on here that's a month or mores wage. I know I'd be struggling if I took a month off work.
