gopro does it again
« on: August 16, 2015, 04:59:37 pm »
Just popped out to give a gutter clearing quote on a semi just down the road.

Wizzed around the front and back guttering with the gopro set to record then showed some still images to the customer. Was easy to do instead of faffing around with a phone using the lcd touch screen to confirm they needed doing as you do.

Got that one booked in then also spoke with the lady next door on the way out as was cutting her grass at the time. Mentioned to her that the shared guttering on her side needed doing too and showed her some still images. She replied my window cleaner does mine normally but I still gave her a price anyway and got that one too.

So roughly in total 20 m of guttering including downspouts to be checked & cleared only at the same time = £150 for about an hour work plus about 15min of my time for the quote can't be bad.

Just goes to show how easy it is to gain good priced work when you use the right tools, are good looking and utterly charming like me.  ;D

I would charge at least the same if not more to clean the outside of fsg as can take alot more time an effort.

I'm of out shortly to do a yearly gutter check & clear (2 storey job) then do the 3 monthly window clean for one of my regulars. So 700 squid is not bad either for half a day's work....Mind you it's a bit bigger than a semi ;D

The last window cleaning firm lost the contract because they wanted only one firm to look after the property as they do.

You don't have to be a so say big hitter to earn a few bob but just need the  balls to ask for what you really want to do the work and not sell yourself short  ;D

I personally prefer just to check & clear guttering & downspouts as is less time consuming and alot more profitable than cleaning plastics as well.  However offering both services bumps up the price quite a bit so is not something to be sniffed at.

Put it this way if they say "If you win every quote you're too cheap".
I better bump me prices up a wee bit more then  ;D

Problem with window cleaners in general they tend to undersell their services drastically just to win plenty of work.
So for instants if they charge £7 to clean the windows on say a detached house the chap is not going to pay the same window cleaner 70 squid or more just to go a bit higher on his ladder to clear the guttering out  is he now?

More like  the window cleaner is going to want to charge say 25 just to make sure he gets the job as they are regular customers after all.

That mindset is going to make a window cleaner busy but a  fool for not charging what the job is really worth.

Down south and I'm sure you could find good paying work in Yorkshire too instead of just competing on price alone. ;)

But lik any place you still get tight fisted ppl too.

Stanley decided to lookup his friend Alf, who was a tight-fisted Yorkshireman.  He found Alf at his bungalow in Huddersfield stripping the wallpaper from the dining room.  Rather obviously, he remarked, "You're decorating, I see."  To which Alf replied, "Nay Stanley lad, I'm moving 'ouse to Bradford."

No link of such as it's an old model Hero 3+ Silver which I purchased new from currys at the time plus the lcd touch screen backpack which was sold seperate. Most places sell gopro Hero 4 's now unless you can find a used one.

Gopro with an lcd touch screen fitted is to date the best bit of kit I've ever brought as I find it's a brilliant passive sales tool.too.
