This was about 3 months ago,
They told him they are now cracking down on this,

I agree I would also take my chances in court rather than give up everything I work for

Something isn't adding up here, what's the difference in me paying somebody to wash my drive than doing it myself.
Does that mean householders are not allowed to wash their own drives ?
I think this guy could be falling for some sort of scam.

I thought the same scam or jealous person ect,
He also thought it may be,
So he used a phone number for main office instead of number on letter.
He was shocked that they had a file on him about the case plus all company details ect

Erm that document is dated 8 years ago, also it's about pollution. Unless you are adding something to your water, it's just that - water.

And a chem called vision  :o
We look at them, they look through them.

Hi mate, i do car valeting and heard about this.

so i contacted my local water board via email (yorkshire water)
i spoke to the guy in charge of trade effluent, he said no one had ever asked him and kind of laughed at me, he said its such a minimal amount that no one is going to bother you about it and just to get on with it.

If you say so mr trade effluent guy.

As far as i know though it is illegal, its just a stupid law thats very , very rarely enforced, your mate is very unlucky

Before I even started window cleaning, I thought I'd ring the council and find out if I'd need any licences or checks doing before I start (I didn't have a clue!) Anyways, got through to some bigwig who just kinda laughed and said no apart from a parking disc IF I wanted to park longer in a 1 hour zone then I'd have to pay £60 a year to make me exempt from some parking restrictions . Apart from that- nothing else

When we clean a buildingS walls/facade/render - WE ALWAYS APPLY FOR PERMISSIONS FROM THE RELEVANT WATER AUTHORITY
In most cases we have to catch the water runoff and dispose of it - in all cases we have to write up a plan of what we are doing - advise on the amount of water we are using - and  what chems we are using if any. The buildings we clean are polluted - the same as a car is - so water runoff must be contained  and disposed of correctly. We often get permission to ensure waste goes into a waste water sewer  - but this costs us money and time to get the permissions in place.
Where there is no sewer we HAVE to take away waste water and we have to make provisions for this - which often means recycling the water or carting it away and paying to dispose of it.

For all of you window cleaners - I don't think you have anything to worry about - we never have applied for permissions to buildings we clean windows only on.

For all you window cleaners who have started cleaning building by pressure washer/softwashing etc - you are more than likely breaking the law - and ignorance of the law is not a get out of jail free card.

Professional cleaning companies know what is required by law - its the so called cowboys who break the law and drive down prices by charging less for their services because they have no idea what they should be doing.

So as he was caught pressure washing a driveway, it seems is telling the truth, When he phoned them he mentioned is window cleaning, They replied unless it's rain water then yes this applies to this also.

It sounds part right. Its run off that is the issue. Pressure washing does create run off. WFP window cleaning does not really create run off, it soaks away generally instead.

It seems utterly ridiculous to me as most households own a pressure washer in some form or another. Do they have to gain permission first or get investigated every time they attempt to wash their car, patio or driveway? Like hell do they.

As for wfp runoff on an environmental level the chap that told your friend that has got to be mentally retarded or something.
Like I mentioned before I can only assume the reason why your friend was reported was due to the fact he peed someone off surely?

You also did not answer my earlier questions: Who reported him to whom and why?
