Thanks for replies.
I've never provided overnight cleaning before, I've asked for advice. What's the point asking if answer is : you don't know such basics?!
I've got idea about pricing now. Thanks.
Anna
I think you have taken it in the wrong context. Trying to get an hourly rate is a personal thing and relates very much to a size of a company, location, travel time and its overheads. For example if I were cleaning and sealing a 100 M2 travertine floor locally I would probably be charging around £20 a M2 plus VAT where as a sole trader maybe able to do it for £10 a M2 or even less and still make good money. This is because he has no staff, does not have to pay 30 Days holidays a year and probably no commercial premises! Conversely if the floor were only 20M2 the M2 rate would be considerably higher.
The key to working out any price for any job is to calculate the Income first (Or Turnover figure) then the Gross Profit from a job and then calculate the Net Profit so in your case you are considering charging 15 Hours at £15 x 4 = £900 Income (Turnover) Then you are proposing to pay out £600 leaving you with £300 then take out the cost of Fuel, Van if you use one, cleaning materials and any employee contributions and what you are left with is your Net Profit less any personal tax & NI. As a rule of Thumb and it doesn't always work use double the rate you intend to pay so if you pay £10 p/h charge £20 p/h + cost of materials. This normally means you make a profit but every company is different. So if you applied the above in your case and the materials cost you £100 your quote would be around £1300
I quoted last year £7350 + VAT for a job and a local sole trader quoted £2200 no VAT!!! I got the work but I spent close to 50% more than the £2200 he quoted on materials and expenses just to do the work!
I hope this helps a bit more
