weedkiller affected lawn
« on: July 20, 2015, 07:06:17 pm »
Hi All. I sprayed weed killer {Clinc ace} on a Tuesday am. Returned to clean the drive, patio and path on the following Saturday and then brushed sand in on the Monday.
All went to plan. I even got paid!
Get a call today {one week later} asking me to pop back and have a look at the lawn. Nipped round and there are three areas where the grass is definitely suffering plus about eight footprints across the rear lawn and around a feature block paving circle. I know they are my prints cos of the ridiculous size {12}.
I said I would return next week and see if the grass is returning to life {ever the optimist} and if not I would sort the problem. Is it a case of grass seed and compost over the top or is there anything else I should do/offer.
The customer is nice but very particular.
Cheers, Tom.

Don't do anything it will  eventually  recover. reseeding will have a limited effect but by the time the seed has grown the grass will have recovered.

I use weedkiller as  a topical killer around my garden I often catch the lawn and kill it but it recovers.

The customer won't be happy but the best thing to do is nothing, even buying turf and transplanting the areas will not guarantee 100% success, but this would be my response rather than  seeding

Sorry but I had to laugh about the foot prints  ;D
As mentioned already damaged grass will grow back in time so don't worry about it.
Let good old mother nature take it's course and tell them that.

What makes it more amusing is only the left boot made "killer prints" ? No right foot marks at all.

I lol'ed...

Go to Wickes and buy the fast growing seeds. Tenner a big box, they are normally in the entrance area. Remove the dead with a rake and scratch the mud up a bit then sprinkle the seeds where required and water.

Give it a couple of weeks and you will see the green coming back. Tell the customer to give it a sprinkle of water every day.

Thanks Andy but I have agreed for a "pro" to sort it and I will pay the bill.
