I thought you were going to say that Pete! However, it is not the rules that you have to use 110volt. You should wherever possible use 110volts however, this is not always possible! The fact is that Grinding Machines and a lot of Rotary Machines are designed to work with water and therefore are totally safe on a building site as long as they comply with current PAT Testing and are regularly checked. HSE states that wherever possible Cordless Tools should be used and that 110Volt is safer because you get less of a shock. We have this argument regularly because Levighetors are primarily 230Volt and we will not use 110 volt because of the loss of power. Furthermore on larger sites we operate machines like the Levighetor Max, Expander etc which are 380-400v three phase so the whole argument is thrown out of the window.
