40/40 RO Commissioning.
« on: May 05, 2006, 12:03:41 pm »
Hello Everybody

I`ve recently installed a 40" RO. My TDS is 360ish softened water. My tap pressure with stop tap on is just under 4 bar. After an hour my TDS is 35 I was hoping to get down to single figures. How long does it take to "wet up" the membrane? I am only getting a trickle of good water into the tank. Should I increase the pressure through the membrane by turning down the stop tap on my waste.
Your help would be appreciated.

Turn the flow control on the waste untill you have the same amount of waste as pure, if you use 2 iidentical measures and get them to fill at the same rate.

My tds is 234 and drop to 0.01 after r/o.

Thanks Roy

While I`ve cleaned windows for 28 years I am now changing to WFP after a fall in Feb. TDS is at 8 at the  moment I`m getting 1 ltr of good to 2 of bad. I will slow the waste as you suggest.

Put a mark on the stop tap on your waste so you can turn it off and back to this position you have marked, saves the setting up of your r/o.

I would also put a stop tap on the pure water out and when you have done a fill of your tank. Turn the tap to the off position on the pure water, and open the waste tap to full and let the water flush the membranies for 15min. This will keep your r/o clean. Then reset both taps to the position you had at first.

I read on another forum that someone had a 40x40 and it got sludge up and slowed right down. So I allways flush mine. They had to buy a new membrane.
