New motors for a enforcer
« on: June 25, 2015, 06:41:28 pm »
What motors would be a good choice/upgrade for a Ashbys enforcer?
Many thanks

Technically none, as it is using the maximum amount of amps already. However I run two HP Electro's on one cord with no problems at all. The Electro's would fit with no modifications to the existing fixings and you would only need to buy one new motor as one of the existing ones is already a HP. You could also run two 6.6 in series which would give you a needed boost in Airflow, about 140 cfm and 227" of water lift. compared to 117 cfm and 240" of water lift.

To be fair I upgraded my machine to two HP motors and only noticed a small improvement, not sure if was really worth it. The biggest improvement came from switching from series to parrallel. Im not sure how  possible that is with a Enforcer though.

best might be two 8.4s in series as used by the Nautilus Extreme in the US .  But the 230v 8.4s are hard to get a expensive so far .
Two 6.6 ... you need to make spacers , its easy enough .  I have one fitted but got too lazy to fit the other .
Electro 5.7s  , you wont run the top 8.5 amp versions on one cord ....      I have sourced the tapered 7amp version from the states and use one with the 6.6 as of now . Can i tell the difference with a 6.6 ... no .

Your easiest upgrade is like Robin said   ( not the switch to parallel  :P ) but to fit two of the HD electro motors .... its comes with one so you just need another  ...  you gain one  one HG  , i measured it .
Its worth it in that its a simple upgrade , but no two different motors are going to do anything dramatic .

absolute bargain   :-X
The guys in the USA seem to be sourcing the 120v version 8.4 for little more than the 6.6 ... which is about 160usd over there .

Could 2 8.4s still be run on one cord tho or would they draw to much power. They are pretty hefty motors tho

Yeah , no problem . They are no more than 7amp max .   I'd say it just the 6.6 motor but the extra fan width give a bit more hg.

I think extracta might have had two  on one cord on the turbo  excel.

very rough guesstimate of getting them from the states  ...

This is a fairly good price  ...
http://www.zoro.com/ametek-lamb-vacuum-mtrblwr-tangential-2-stge-1-spd-122178-18/i/G3544231/

They tell you to use this site to purchase ... and they handle shipping
http://www.myus.com/

so about 650usd for two shipped  , which is about £420 , then add your import tax etc  ( about 25% ? )
about 500 and something to the door for two  .
