What do you call yourself ?
« on: June 23, 2015, 03:32:00 am »
When you are filling out application forms for Insurance, and stuff, what do you put down as your job title ?
I usually put down " Cleaning Contractor "  but not sure of the best title to put ?

Any thoughts ?

This is quite an interesting question, I often wonder when applying for car insurance if it would be cheaper if I put managing director or company secretary  or just put like you cleaning contractor.

If you put 'entertainment industry' it's supposed to be more expensive, I wonder it it works the other way round that some occupations are cheaper.

I call myself Chris …Monday to Friday and Christine at the weekends. My clients call me whatever they want as they are paying.

Don't lie to your insurance company…they are scum and are looking at getting out of it in any way should you need a claim.
You are a Cleaning Contractor (or similar) the will have a list of occupations pick the one that best fits.

Sometimes they have those silly scroll down boxes with a limited choice of occupation, that's when I get confused.
Regarding the weekend name change, I am glad you are at peace  ;D

Occupation does make a difference, as does any modifications to the vehicle. If ever in doubt with an insurance company  " Tell Them."
The first  questions  an insurance co. asks when a claim comes in are 1-  Do we have to pay?  2 - How do we not pay?...

I must admit that I now have my wife added to the company policy as either an Administration Assistant or as a Co Director because when you add her as a Driving Instructor  which is what she actually does as well, the policy price jumps through the roof.  They must think she is going to teach students in the company vehicle's  ;D

Over the years I have had every position in the company, I used to put down I was a window cleaner but found insurance to be cheaper if your position in the company is more office based.
As in director/company sec, maybe they view you as more responsible.

My vehicle insurance has been as high as £2500 and am currently paying just on £1000, with position of director

My daughter is 20 an in uni, passed her test 2 years ago but I wasn't prepared to pay £4000 for her to drive, in November I was messing about on insurance comparison sites, entered my daughters detail, puts down that she was a post graduate, only on a fiat 500 .........

Quote came back at £996 ........ On 64 plate

So rang insurance up to double check and yes that was right, to my amazement, policy is in her name with no 'no claims bonus'

So car and insurance paid for the year for Xmas.

Point being it defiantly makes a difference to your quote depending on your job description.
