Tyre marks on kerbs
« on: June 20, 2015, 11:53:11 am »
Just been asked to clean a car park but I have to be able to remove all these black tyre marks
The pic shows the kerb is starting to brake up, this was the last firm left chemicals on overnight.

Someone has just told me I will need hot water to get rid but I haven't a clue tbh.

I have had tyre marks before but on the flat - I tried allsorts to get them off with limited success. Hot did'nt make much odds but I used a rotary, black pad, TFR and kiln dried sand which did give satisfactory results. I have done some trials since and found the wet blast with soda works quite nicely.

Nice one mate,
Tbh - there is a lot of work like this I can have on regular basis, company has got a chemical firm coming out on Monday to advise on best chemicals to use.

Am new to pressure washing lark, so what would I be best to buy to do a sample for them.

This company has numerous sites all over the gaff so getting it right could lead to a lot of work.

Not just for me as I only want Liverpool but all over country for whoever is local to that area.

Matty
I'm thinking of getting into pressure washing and I saw a you tube video recently where the guy actually shows getting rid of (or nearly) tyre marks on a kerb. I'll see if I can find it again.

Does this method work with underpants, as Hypo won't touch em ?

Hello robbo, yes mate a link would be great, some of them are really old, and other are so bad it's criminal. The customer is looking for something that will get them off but chemical wise I haven't a clue,

I blasted some of them with fresh mark and they lifted but I couldn't do anything with some of them, they were so bad, last guy who tried put hypo down over night quite neat, when he came back the next day to pressure clean they start to brake up

You need an appropriate cleaner with a dwell time ;D

No amount of Hypo or Brick Acid will shift tyre rubber marks off kerbs, tarmac or concrete.  I should know, tyre marks are difficult to get off polished porcelain in car showrooms let alone a surface designed to grip ;D

Matty

It is a matter of testing really.  The best system seems to be pre  wet with water, then add a solvent and allow to dwell, then agitate and check.  Then sometimes you need to mix in a High Alkaline and agitate again. A lot seems to depend on

How Deep it's  gone
How Old it is

I can send you a few samples to try if you like?  Call the office tomorrow  and I  will get it sorted.

Thanks kev, that's great  I will call tomora and cover p&p , i will also be able to discuss more regarding the problem and you will understand a bit better,

Some are really bad and old others are bad and some are not so bad but in general there's a lot of bad.  ;D

If products work, I will use it on the sites I am going to do but the customer will buy direct from you, so put info on bottles......... and there is a lot of these kerbs on a lot of there sites

Thanks again

Robbo

That's what I need !

Same ere as on video am going at it with nearly 250 bar and it don't touch it, am looking for that chemicals that I spray on, ( I mean there wasn't much dwell time ) leave for how ever long and go at it like that.

Hopefully kev will have the product at hand

Why did blast away leave the forum, he hasn't been on here for a while, and if am right it's lee, and he was the one who started the wfp pressure washing idea
