I currently use SPM as my first choice of pre spray and am interested in what other microsplitters you guys use.
Has anyone used Wool x / restore it or any others?

I would say  ...  skip the lot and move on to Ultimatemaster or folmula90  ,   Micro-splitter is just a made up nonsense word  .  Low spec powder is a more apt title

We have tried most of the microspliters but cant tell the difference.

Used SPM for a while but have now gone back to pureclean without the booster but cant tell the difference cleans just as well.

Will try John Kelly version when we next order from him.

I am able to do a bit of a blind test by not telling my wife or daughter what we are using to clean with and they think its the same product each time even with  different makes of microspliters they can't tell the diference.

The only one that seem different is Nicks version of HD which has a nice smell but still cleans the same.

I've found there is very little difference, the first MS I tried was CFR One Step which for some reason seemed to have a bit more bite but  Amtech changed it and it was never the same. I think it's mostly down to brand loyalty and who you prefer to to buy your chems from. Most of us buy from a range of suppliers but increasingly it's the suppliers that provide a wide range of chems  from different manufactures than benefit from the 'one stop shop' I use Cleansmart and Restormate simply because I get excellent service and can get everything I need. The smart suppliers are increasingly developing  their own versions of Prochem and Chemspec products and in most cases there is very little difference, though I would contest Chemspec have the edge with their DFC range which I also find excellent.

I use Chemspecs powdered F90 F70 and one clean , have done for nearlyntwenty years always gives good results

i have to say i used ultimate master yesterday for the first time and it totally left me gobsmacked
on a very very bad domestic job!  having told the customer i would do my best but not to expect miracles
i have to say ultimate master/citrus prespray (altec)  and ultimate master in  rinse tank  gave me results
i would never have expected, looked like a virtually new carpet...........

Got to agree with you there Tim. Since using Alltec Citrus Pre Spray and Ultimate Master I very rarely use other products. They seem to cover such a wide variety of soils and types of carpets.

In fact IMO detergents are the future even though they have been around for donkeys years Microsplitters are missing many of the ingredients that the detergent products include so require more agitation to work. Microsplitters do work but why make life difficult for yourself. I could work all day with one hand tied behind my back but I wont be able to do such a good job and it will take me twice as long.

Do you have in tank heaters?
How do you use it just a pre spray? Warm tap water?

I use it just in tank and use citrus prespray as my general pre spray with it. You should keep to a maximum of 65 degrees with ultimate master but i believe this is so it keeps its self neutralizing characteristic. I have used it at well over 65 and it works fine. I haven't used it much as a prespray as citrus prespray is so good. However you could mix it in a pump up sprayer at 10g per 6L.

Just to add.... you can mix it with hot tap water. It should work fine withe either a tank heater or an inline.

I just wonder how much difference ultimate master makes added to tank as it only just hits the carpet before its sucked up?
As you have already pre sprayed citrus down.
I am at alltec Tuesday and Wednesday for rug course.

Get some and give it a go.

I got their sample pack first and that was what sold it to me. Its pretty good stuff. Ultimate master actually works pretty good by itself with no pre spray, however pre spraying and agitation always gives a superior result.

I have used it as a pre spray i.e using the wand, then followed up  with it.

I have a Alltec machine with tank heater and i set it at 60c but i have used the in-line heater and it was still ok.

Did a 3 seater with it last week and it came up like new...Customer was so happy she gave me a £20 tip.

As Robin said get yourself sum when your at Alltec

Its ph 10 so yes if you either acid rinse or use ultimate master which self neutralizes. Some would say that is a little high but it depends on the situation.

Not knocking training, but it doesn't tell you what to do when you are presented with an absolutely trashed 100% wool carpet. You have to know when to start bending the rules. I would feel happy using powerburst even champion on some wool carpets depending on the situation. Others I would want to stick closer to neutral.

You don't have to use agressive chemicals to clean carpets with, increase the heat, agitation, dwell time or all three if you have a trashed carpet. The pH on wool has a bigger issue with colour bleed than anything else especially if its a buffered pH, then you can't neutralise or decrease it. So if you have to use a higher pH then make sure it is an un-buffered product and you rinse it afterwards.

To add another question I would ask , as ultimate master is self neutralising, is it capable of neutralising the high ph pre spray too? Or just itself when it's used as  pre spray and rinse.

My interpretation would be that an acidic rinse would be more suitable
