Hi, I am having a lot of trouble with my static RO, the water pressure where I live has dropped dramatically recently, and has gone from 40psi to about 10psi. As a result I am struggling to produce anywhere near enough water! So I am going to get an RO set up for my van, so I can top up from customers taps as I work. Can anyone recommend a good RO to fit into my van? Thanks

I have a booster pump which is running continuously, it boosts the water pressure up a bit, but the system is only making about 200litres a day, I need about 800ltrs!

Not sure what you mean by water flow or just the pressure? The pressure gauge on my purefreedom system says 12psi without the pump on, and when I switch on the pump it goes up to 20psi, water is pouring out of the waste, but barely trickling out into my tank!

I use the Merlin 720 and I get about 100 per litres hour the 4040 is better but I don't know what it will give

I had a shelf welded on side of tank to fit it in the corner ( I did manage to brake it the other night but have another,  always keep a spare were pos ). But in general it is up out the way, a small di bottle after so pure into tank, I also use my tank to pressure wash so I have an 11L di bottle after pump before reel.

What is your pure to waste water ratio after the r/o? In other words, how many litres of waste water to 1 liter of pure?  What r/o have you got?

My system is a Purefreedom 950gpd with a 20" HF5 Membrane and an industrial pump. I will measure my waste to pure ratio and let you know. Thanks

Ok I have just measured my waste to pure ratio.... In just over 4 and a half minutes I produced 1 ltr of pure water and 58ltrs of waste!

Really!!? There is a valve on the front of the unit, which I have turned as far as it will go clockwise...  is this wrong?

Is your pressure guage after your booster pump?
Your water flow sounds fine if you're getting that amount of waste, its very odd you're booster isnt increasing the pressure (unless its duff?)
What psi is the pump meant to give out?
As spruce has suggested have you adjusted your gate valve?

I would t have thought your mains pressure should effect your production too much so long as the flows the same, as the booster pump is there to, well...boost the pressure to the set amount, so i would have thought the problem is there somewhere...

Edit...turn the valve the other way and see if it makes a difference to your pure to waste ratio

My thought exactly Dave.

Turning your valve clockwise should close the valve. If it doesn't your valve is faulty.

To check that unscrew it from the outlet and check what happens when you turn the handle. The 'paddle' inside should move up and down, opening and closing the gate depending in which way the k nob is turned. If it doesn't the the rod may have unscrewed from the paddle. It will need lining up and screwed back in.

This shows the side of the unit with the r/o membrane housing. The red gate valve at the bottom is the waste which should be nearly closed. The other outlet in the same end is the pure outlet. The inlet from the prefilters is the single inlet at the top.
