Not quite. All gardiner swivels (and others for that matter) are pivoted 90 degrees to the stock. Herman's is angled down from the stock like the original Gaz swivels used to be. Don't get me wrong, 90 degree ones do a great job but if they were angled down from the pivot they would work significantly better.

Chum, use the modified pivot plate Gardiners sell - it puts the pivot right on the brush stock instead of screwing into a socket.

I have one but find little difference if any between it & the quick loq swivel.

That plate for the Gardiner  swivel.
Also needs to be at that slight angle.
All can say about that is it's not that we hadn't suggested the angle idea to them. ::)roll :-X ;)

It doesn't it works fine  ???
The adapter is pretty short and close to the pivot point - simply alter the adapter to match the angle you want. It's going to vary according to pole length etc.

Also, I don't actually like the quick loc system much either, too loose and the rattle, too tight and they jam. I keep my spare brushes already joined to their own resi neck ready for use.

The pivot being close to the stock isn't the issue Dave. The one you describe & the quick loq one are no different in use IMO, there is so little difference in pivot location. If the pivot point was angled downwards instead of being at 90 degrees then this would make all the difference- once you tried it, it would all make sense. An angled swivel has much less limits, much less pole & body movement required for the same angles.

Herman, have you tried the Gardiners resi neck with swivel with the adapter plate?
I think you'll find it's prettier, lighter, cheap and does the same thing.

He designed it for Gardiners  8)

To be historically accurate H MAN did not design this swivel socket part for us and has played no part in the design and development of any of our 'swivel' goosenecks and 'swivel' sockets  :) Our swivel goosenecks have actually been on sale since 2011.

The swivel brush socket being discussed was actually originally suggested by one of our long term UK clients about 4 years ago - he felt so strongly about the idea at the time that he even built an alloy prototype and sent it to us - which I still have. The client knows who he is  :)

H MAN - I have noticed that you have mentioned the downward angle on several forums/videos recently, but 'Chum Bucket' beat you to it as he has been telling me (nagging) for years that a downwards angle is best  :)

Chum Bucket - I have been listening, but we are only now working through a backlog of higher priority tooling projects. It will eventually appear - as they say, good things comes to those who wait  ;)

Having tested both ways I am still not sure that I agree that the downward angle is best, but then what do I know!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

I don't know how critical the degree of the angle is though!! ;D

Both designs work well, it's not as if a 90 degree swivel is rubbish- far from it, these two designs are not "worlds" apart. A seasoned swiveller would recognise the subtle but significant difference between the two types though.

This is correct it is a matter of which one you feel comfortable with.
Of cause you can move the swivel in more positions with that slight downward angle.
But each to his/her own. :)

No it wouldn't coz you will be twisting your wrists more to make the swivel work,I tried a Gaz brush years ago when he sold his brushes with em on and you need to twist the pole to get it to move. Wagga uses a wagtail type swivel which looks good but to cheap looking for my liking as well as flimsy

Yes Alex is absolutely correct had nothing to do with how it was designed.
Because if did it would be very different.
More then angle on the swivel.
It would be able to interchange to the Quick-LoQ system it self.
Then you could also use it on the goose necks.
Very sure that many other people have worked something different out also.
Might not be thinking on the same wave length.
After all only clean windows for a living.
