Customer Service....not
« on: June 08, 2015, 11:03:34 am »
Friday afternoon I'm up in the attic doing paperwork.

The doorbell goes. Olympic athlete that I am I sprint down 2 flights of stairs. As I'm coming down the second flight I can see through the front door window there's nobody there!

Slightly p***sed off I open the door and call "What!"

I see a man walking along the road stop, backtrack and stick his head round the corner of our hedge. He says "Yes?"

Me: "You rang my doorbell?"

Him:"Yes?"

Me:"Well what do you want?" (Since he's wearing a logo-ed shirt and carrying leaflets)

Him: "Nothing." Then he walks off saying in a voice loud enough for me to hear "Miserable git".

I slam door shut.

Somewhat childishly he backtracked down our street later on, rang the doorbell and ran off. I know this because I just happened to be looking out of an upstairs window at the time.

OK so I might have been a bit childish and "grumpy old man" in my initial interaction but honestly not a good attitude from him. He might just have been selling exactly what I was looking for. And he didn't know that we may have been a doddering old couple who just take time to get to the front door. AS it was I had to climb back up 2 flights of stairs and try and work out where I was upto in my tax return. ???

Why don't people who ring/knock on doors allow enough time for people inside to respond? Don't they want business/make a good impression?

Rant over.

There is a serious side to this,

He did not know if the householder was disabled or elderly, or even of a nervous disposition ,ringing the door bell and running away like a child might seem funny but it can also be quite distressing if you are one of the above.

Aside from that whoever was employing this dick would probably want to know the kind of impression he was giving of their business, certainly not a very good one.
