Hi I have a 10" westpac I just cant get along with and a 4" prochem hand tool which takes ages to clean stairs with.
I have seen the 6" tools like the hyrdamaster one for example, are these any good? I imagine they should be 50% faster to clean with and likely they will cover the risers in one side to side pass?
Cheers

We use the same as you.
The Westpac is awkward to use my Jackie cant use it and we can miss bits with it.
Most of the time we use the 4 inch prochem tool.
Did have the HM tool but sold it as it was just as awkward.
If we get a really bad set of stairs like in a nightclub I will go down it first after pre-spraying, the Westpac can cover them quickly with plenty of heat it get the worst soiling out then go over them again the prochem tool after re-spraying them.
It gives us the best of both world the westpac being a bit more aggressive.
I don't like cleaning stairs.
A few years ago we priced up a job and the client bought out an offcut about 18 foot long and 3 feet wide and can you price this at the same time so that about 6 square yards. I don't think it was much to clean it.
When we cleaned the carpets that off cut had been fitted to the stairs so should have been more than twice the price.
We just cleaned it for the price we had agreed as it was not worth the hassle.

Hydramaster all the way. Big suction and can get the crud off the nosing of the stairs. As for being awkward fit a 45 degree connector so that the solution hose runs in from the side rather than the rear and you are good to go. Brilliant on rug fringes and for extracting sick and all the other lovely bodily fluids.
