Unloader worn out?

Just purchased a new pressure washer ( cheers Ben ) it's identical to my first PW (Honda gx390 inter pump ws202) apart from the unloader the older one has a k5 unloader

Now running both machines side by side it's very apparent that the older one is way down on power, would this be down to the unloader spring losing resistance or should I be looking for other reasons in the loss of pressure ?  Is 2 years about it or should they last longer (at a rough guess I reckon it's run 500 to 600 hours)

Yes it could need a new unloader, is the old unloader adjusted properly or is it still unloading when you pull the trigger? Is the old one a trapped pressure unloader or flow sensitive one?

If you you are using a separate hose and gun assembly it could be that you have a worn nozzle?

Or the pump could needs a service, a check of the oil to see if its a milky colour could indicate that you could do with changing the seals?

Yes it's still unloading ok, will check the oil but was ok ( right level and not milky ) last month when I checked, I think the k5 is flow sensative

If you think the pump is ok and and its not the nozzle (worn down or wrong size) then you could swap over the unloaders to make sure its that.

The k5 is flow sensitive

K5's are a flow sensitive unloader valve rated to 200 bar - undo the retaining nut on the bolt in the top of the unloader and take that to and try it - set like that it is at FULL pressure which on a 202 should be quite high so please don't run it like that... :)

But it should give you a good idea of what is going on :) also as  above try using the hose and lance used on the other on the old one.

Milky oil only gives an indication of an oil seal leak and says nothing for the water seal kit - however once the above has been checked you are left with the fact that the engine RPM may be different between the two or that the water seals are on their way out, two years an a machine which is worked hard is not an unreasonable life span even on a GB machine.

He is very good, but my original m/c came from another supplier and I didn't think it fair to take up his valuable time on questions , after all he's busy sorting out other stuff for me  ;D

Really getting into these pressure washers now, might invest in some bits and bobs for servicing etc...

I don't care who's machines any one buys I still sit here emailing dozens of people... even one or two chaps who do repairs for a living!

Ok Ben,

Ok, you have made a couple of interesting points, firstly, now I think about it I'm sure it hasn't the same amount of throttle as yours (is there a throttle stop on these that may work loose?) I don't have a pressure gauge but I have gone through adjusting the unloader by winding all the way in ( low pressure ) then winding out, the pressure increases until a bout 3/4 open then remains the same, the bolt can then unwind all the way out with no change so I presumed the valve is at max, so I wound it back it until I feel the bolt touch the valve then turned it in another 1/2 turn.
Both machines were using same age hose and turbo nozzles, although I didn't swap them over there's not a not of usage/age difference

Also Ben out of interest I've been told that a 'soap' nozzle is needed for the chemical  injector  to work is that correct?

And am not sure if " man walking through turnstiles side ways is going to Bangkok "  ;D.

I don't really see the forum like that tbh, if you say use UBIK and I say use virosol and the other used something else, it's just opinions. But I think 1 thing and another. 

Like Jakey boy the other week, 1 min he's posting regular then disappears then returns to have a rant and declare his dissatisfaction with the forum. 

Maybe sometimes people expect to much from the internet !

Jakey boy single handedly managed to p a fair few people off on here in one fowl swoop and just generally being a complete cock. A few good people including myself don't bother to help anybody on here anymore due to people like him!
