I can honestly say if I had to go back to trad now I don't think I could do this job anymore,I very occasionally get the ladder off to get on to a flat roof that can't be poled at  an angle and laugh to myself thinking I don't know how I used to do this

Totally agree! I think if someone told me I had to go back to trad I'd find another kind of job. I don't mind doing the odd house off ladders, but all day  :'(
We look at them, they look through them.

Yeah easily 50% loss on a days takings. Sometimes mayb more.

Plus I'd be shattered at the end of the day, and there is also that slight chance of falling one day.

My wife wants me to go back to ladders. I'm well insured.  ;D

Around 40 to 50% easily. Even with the extra running costs of wfp im still a heck of a lot better off with income wise.

Until about a year ago I had a couple of customers that needed a ladder for the odd window
I told them I would not longer be doing those windows as I can't be bothered with a ladder,  one cancelled, the other I cancelled.
In the last six months I have had a ladder on my van for 6 hours in total
I HATE LADDERS!!!!

I reckon honestly I would earn 50% less than now, yeah the back aches from time to time but I now factor in £60-80 a month in massages etc lol. I get my ladder off about 4-5 times a month for the odd flat roof as said before but this year I'm aiming to get that down to zero because I'm going to say unless I can do it dr inside I'll do it next time when your in,the fact is off ladders it's not the first couple of days in the week it's from Wednesday onwards you feel it and that's when your daily rate suffers. I can do the same most days with the pole and on certain work I don't feel as though I've done much although I earn very good money, sometimes 3-4 times the ladder rate.
