Just a quick question for you all - how did you find out about this website? Was it a link somewhere or was it word of mouth?
Thanks
Mike

Be careful about relying on meta tags to optimise your web sites. It used to be important, but now virtually no search engines take any notice of them. Google, for instance, ignores them completely. The thing to understand is that there are about 1.9 million sites competing for the term 'Office Cleaning' here in the UK. Getting to the top of that lits is extremely technical, very hard work, and generally expensive. To get right to the top of the tree, you need Pay Per Click, but handled wrongly, it can cost you a fortune.

Steve,

Check out this link to googles cost per click, it gives a brief explanation. Should be the same for pay per click.

https://adwords.google.com/select/main?cmd=Login&sourceid=promo&subid=rp&hl=en

click on "what does it cost".

Re:Meta Tags,  Meta Tags title and alt tags use them all for image alt tags name them as cleaning.gif or things like that. Use words that might get picked up in a search (view pages that are ahead of you in ranking "nick there code" Submit your site as much as possible and yes you will get business daily.

Well not exactly being up on website design I'm afraid I cheated. I used www.freewebs.com for the site. Pretty basic, but its enough for what we need at the moment. and then I bought the domain name from www.123-reg.co.uk £6.09 for 2 years. Apart from that, it costs me nothing

I have gained a couple of customers from the site, and its generated a few calls. So no great loss.
