Just purchased a 250 litre tank to fit into my Vauxhall combo its an upright tank, is there any other way of fitting it safely without buying a steel frame

Have it tight against the bulk head, and secure with 3 tonne ratchet straps to the anchor points.

Although some say this is still unsafe.

I have a combo with a 250litre flat tank fitted. I used 4 high tensile u bolts with spreader plates, bolted to the van floor. Then used two 5 tonne ratchet straps to hold it down.
It was pretty easy to fit as the combo has the secondary floor.

Why such a small tank for most single operators a 400ltr tank is a minimum .

i just use ratchet straps to bulkhead with my 250.

probably not that safe or insurance friendly but im gangster

Thanks Matt, how easy was it to drill holes through the floor,where is a good place for the ratchet straps

Make sure you don't drill the chassis. Put big washers on. Easy

I used square plates instead of large washers -  about 4" x 4" - spread the load. Oh and hi tensile bolts.

If you have an upright tank you probably want to put it to as close to the bulkhead as possible. Towards the front of the floor in the back there  is like a secondary floor, which covers where the rear footwell would be if you had a corsa/crew cab combo. In the floor there should be little panels. If you unscrew these then you will be able to see where you are drilling, and you shouldn't have to worry about drilling into any mechanical parts!

I used the high tensile u bolts in the link above with the spreader plates.

I got the ratchet straps off eBay, got the highest strength rating I could find!

I have two straps over the top of the tank from left to right into the floor and one going around the back of the tank half way up into the bulk head.
