How do you do it ?
« on: May 12, 2015, 11:23:52 am »
Heavy gusts here today but no rain so after hearing all the stories by the all weather guys on here and
wanting to get ahead because of a holiday in a few weeks time decided to give it a go.
Spent nearly 3 hours wrestling and fighting with the pole taking five times as long just to do the same work badly and have come home exhausted and demoralised.
To be honest I don't think it was half as windy as some claim to work in without problems on here, thought my SLX was going to snap at one point.

Mayb just experience. I use my extreme until I feel it's too windy and there's a possibility of it breaking. Then I switch to my slx.

It's a good workout fighting against the wind.   ;D

I've always managed to get my days work done. Taken an hour or so longer in really bad weather, but still managed.

Comes with experience i guess.

If it's really bad i use a 47 ft extreme with the bottom 3 sections off. I then extend each section only up to the orange band.

Haven't taken a day off yet due to wind. I worked in some monster winds 2 weeks ago and soon realized. The windier it is the better. Windows dry so quick, they dont have time for poop to stick to the water.

I did have to switch to a fascia clean and commercial work last week though. Was too windy. 60/70mph gusts.

I always try to have work in back pocket.

I'm not having that!  ;D
You can be the most experienced window cleaner in the world but you can't change physics.
You might get away with it but I disagree with your post.

If the wind is blowing to the side of a window at 20mph the glass will take longer to dry then if the wind was 60mph.

if the wind was blowing straight onto the glass then it wouldn't matter.

Plus i use vision, so i have an advantage anyway.

Ok.
But if it's very windy, dirt will be blown on to the windows and if they are wet the dirt will stick more easily.
They will be wet for a time and strong winds don't need much time to affect a window.

Fair point.
No dust, no traffic, no trees etc and you should be ok. Maybe just the tears of angels being blown around  ;D.

Only the smell of failure from other window cleaners.

Thing is, with vision the dirt skids off - you can hear it, like tyres squealing .

Just keep on eating the digestives and play the banjo more. You'll be fine. Both can be done fine in the alleged 60/70mph wind gusts that Number 23 mentioned.

Biggest problem around here when it's windy is when the seagulls poo from a height. One dollop can cover the whole side/front/back of a house. When that then gets baked on the glass it sets like concrete.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.
