« on: May 11, 2015, 08:26:25 pm »
Hi
Did a first clean today on a house with new windows and alot of the windows had really big suction marks on them, tried everything to try and get rid of them but to no avail.

Please has any one got any ideas?

Are they on the inside of the pane- Like between the two panes in that make the sealed unit? I've had them like this before.

I had this on my set of 6 bi-folding doors (it shows up really badly in direct sunlight). I complained to the door manufacturer and they replaced the lot. They were exactly the same as well. I couldn't be bothered to change them again.  :(

Sounds like the suckers used to lift the glass in manufacturing

Yeah, i've seen this too. Must be a dodgy manufacturing process.

If they are between the glass on a sealed unit I would advise the customer to complain to builder if on the out side glass use IPA
on a cloth to remove. I PA works for most things on glass  except silicon.

Ipa is Isopropanol which is almost pure alcohol.

although if the mark is on the outside i would just wet the glass with soapy water and scrape it off

Agreed. WFP alone won't shift them. Even trad will struggle.
We look at them, they look through them.

I did a first clean a few years ago and you would have had to have seen it to believe it,there were actually full hand prints between the panes of glass and not just 1 there were several. I showed the customer and she said that the family knew  the builder well and often went out for meals together,I said there's no way you can't say anything to him but she just said don't worry about it just do what you can lol

Get a tub of glass polishing paste and rub the paste over the marks with a damp terry microfiber cloth, just rinse off  with  water and thats it.
