chemical pump sprayers
« on: May 09, 2015, 09:43:52 am »
Did a gutter clean etc yesterday. Couldn't get ladder to most of it. What a pain spraying virosol on brush head then extending each time. Ended up shimmying up a wall etc. What a dog it was.
Looked ace in the end and custy was over the moon. Watched every second of my 4 hour cleaning. Even when it started peeing it down.
I need a better way. Don't do many, but need a better pump sprayer or something. Even thought of water pistol
Don't want to spend silly money. A good pump sprayer should reach

Spray onto your brush
did you read my post? :)
I want to avoid doing it that way. Pain in the back side. Much better results giving it a good spray anyway

I've used a 5 litre pump sprayer.
Unscrew the rigid wand from the trigger.
Run pole hose ( 8mm diameter I think it is) through a telescopic pole.
Attach one end of pole hose to the trigger at bottom of the pole and the other end  to the rigid wand via John Guest 8mm straight connector.
Wand with nozzle is at top of pole.

Hi duncan, i bought a gardiners backpack last summer especially  for these type of jobs, use the backpack with a mixture of
virosol & water to spray on to G/F/S connected to your waterfed pole, ( i use fanjets for these jobs ) leave on for 5 minutes,
then scrub and rinse using customers water or your pure from van, the grime & algae comes off a lot easier & quicker doing
it this way. the backpack is one of the best things I've bought, saves a lot of time & energy, well worth the 90 pounds.

Best regards

As above use a backpack, scrub and apply at the same time or use a hose lock 1.25 litres pump sprayer about £12 quid these have a great reach and easily spray to second floor guttering (unless very windy)

I have an old fibre glass pole I use. took brush & fittings off, fitted a spray unit from a pump up garden spray onto top of pole just with electrical tape, other end of pipe goes straight into screw fitting on trigger part of 5 Litre pump.
Pump up, hit the trigger and you instantly have a very long extendable 5 Litre Pump sprayer. By the time you have sprayed all back of property simply drop this pole down, pick up your brush pole and away you go! Very simple and very effective....

Or Alterantivley,
I am just waiting on delivery of two Fan Jets from the Tinternet, when they arrive I will be drilling two extra holes in my brush on my 27ft CLX and removing a couple of bristles to do this, then have a quick release fitting to those two fan jets with a pipe wrapped around outside of pole, held with velcro straps (Ebay £2.) Then straight back to 5 Litre Pump up sprayer full of TFR or Virasol .
pump and spray with Fan jets, turn off Pump sprayer, turn on water supply thru normal jets and scrub/rinse away. two jobs completed in minutes with just one brush! End of job just remove outer pipe wrap it up, shove in van till next job!
One brush head, two sets of Jets, two pipes, One Job completed very very quickly!
Hope all that makes sense. Good luck.

all of the above ideas are good

just my tuppence worth.......i use this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8L-Knapsack-Weed-Killer-Feed-And-Weed-Pest-Control-Chemical-Sprayer-/201344346850?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ee10eeae2

after pumping between 40 - 50 times you get really good pressure, with an outstretched arm i can easily reach upto the gfs with the spray, i pop a ladder up beside conservatory`s  to reach gfs above them. i also use virosol diluted and find it very affective

for a tenner its a good buy, although JackieW`s idea is good

C-thru - why all the hassle of extra jets and pipe ? Just plus your pole hose in direct to the sprayer, then re connect to water, saves even more time

I have a small everflo 2ltr a minute pump and a dedicated hose reel in the van drawing from a 25ltr drum of chemicals mixed with water in the van. Just turn on the pump, pull off the hose, connect to my spray pole and away you go, fast, easy and simple.

Something I considered was, disconnecting hose from tank and sticking it in diluted virosol. Its then getting air out of pump.
I need those hand pumps that will connect to my spare jets. Ill find a reducers to fit from hand pump to jet hose. Sorted

The only reason I am going to use extra pipe Daz is that my brushes are Pencil Jets and I want to use Fan jets to apply TFR / Virasol. Pencil jets will be too messy and go through far too much wasted product. Spray on with pencil Jets, scrub and rinse with fan Jets. well that was what I am thinking.... unless anyone has better more simple idea??

I have now modified a brush just for this use.
Two sets of jets,  fan jets to apply TFR / Virosol and Pencil Jets for rinsing off while scrubbing.
Also fitted Rectus female to Pump up 5 Litre garden sprayer so now only have to use the one pipe.
Apply detergent from Pump spray, then quickly swap to pencil jets and re-attach main hose to water supply.
Works bloody Lovely! so quick!
Will post Pics tomorrow if anybody wants to see what I did... Let me know>

I find using fan jets from start to finish on these  type of jobs to be more affective, as the fan jet reaches a broader area, and
gets into the nooks & crannys & gutter brackets better, but everyone has their own prefered way of doing certain jobs.
