Who can tell me about cat pumps ?
« on: April 19, 2015, 07:34:21 pm »
Seen a few Honda setups with cat pumps, mainly Brendon badged.

1. Are they any good?
2. Are they geared like the inter pump ws202
3. How do I know  what pressure it's working at

Cheers

1) yes
2 )if it has a gearbox…yes
3) Fit a pressure gauge or read the spec for it (if new)

Not buying new, and some who are selling don't seem to know anything about the machine (a bit like me)

So  there is no standard to whether these pumps are direct drive or geared down to lower revs ?

They are either 3400 rpm (direct drive) or 1450rpm (gearbox fitted) generally . There will be other speeds available for say electric motors or PTO driven pumps.
Why buy from someone who does not know anything about the product they are selling….what happens when you have a problem or need spares?

That's why I use this forum, so I am able to learn from your extensive experience.....

If I was buying new, which I still may I would be talking to the builder of the machine, either Damien or Ben, but it would be a bit cheeky to take up their time then waltz off and get a second hand one off the net

Hello Darren,
I was in that position a few months ago, looked at loads and for a decent one honda gx390 21lpm, and I found some lovely ones, best price for a nearly new was £1000. I thought for the extra bit more you know it's brand new and has warranty, and any problems you ring them up and send it back.
I would of went £850 for a nearly new before it then becomes near new price, I found a guy who has 2 with hose reel mounted on top of trolley buy he wouldn't take less than £2000 or £1000 each.

I wish I bought his hose reel  ;D

Hahaha,

Got a lovely second had stainless steel reel arrived today 😄😄😄😄😄

I know what your saying,  for the difference I might as well get Damien to send me another 21 Ltr p/m machine and be done with it.
