What Generator for a hot box?
«
on:
April 07, 2015, 08:14:59 pm »
I've been looking at getting a big 30lpm hotbox for my 21lpm pressure washer, but have been told I need a 2.5kva genny.
I know some guys on here use small generators for their hot boxes. I dont really want to keep my 5.5kva in the van at all times as it takes up too much room(and weight).
What generator would this need?...

Is your washer key start? If so just run an invertor off the washer starter battery.
A 1kva generator is more than enough for a hot box. You are only running a fan ,and ignition pack.

No, its a pull start.
So a 1kva is fine for a 21ltr hot box.
The 30lpm hotbox has a bigger fan I have been told so it needs a bigger KVA.
May be worth just going for the 21ltr hot box then.

Damien from Qwashers told me I needed a bigger generator for the larger burner due to the bigger fan.

Hello Richy
I have seen this on eBay and it looks like a nice piece of kit to add on, other than getting chewing gum up what other benefits are there to being hot as opposed to cold.

150 watts for 21lpm boiler…..cant see a 30lpm boiler needing fan that is 6x bigger = 900watts… thats not even 1kva .

I have a generator built into my machine, runs off a belt, same as the pump. It powers my boilet, the generator os only tiny and works out 110v. Chris is right, even a big hot box wont need a massive genny..

Bought it off Rutland pumps, 21 lpm or 20 lpm not 100%, 220 bar. Tbh mate it's quite decent, I have done a few jobs with it, and am happy with what it does. I have just ordered some extra hoses, bought 50m with machine and ordered another 80m yesterday for a roof I need to clean.
Am just learning with it to start with so don't no much about machines

Ive got a Lombardini machine. Its a belt drive pump. its well set up but i dont see why you couldnt investigate the option of adding a small genny to run off your machine.

Battery to start the p/w. Depending on what route you take…either an invertor to up the 12v dc battery output to 240 ac or a 12v burner as above.
