Problem night club carpets
« on: March 26, 2015, 01:25:33 pm »
okay so I've cleaned these carpets before they were very impressed and i was back 5 months later......

This is where the problem started . I pre sprayed with pure clean as my trusty power burst had gone day before, then extracted off and added double clean to the tank. Job done all clean.

I then received a call a week later saying the carpets were sticky and not like this the first time. So I apologised and explain that it may be down to this new stuff I had bought (double clean) so I went back and recleaned this time with power burst and fresh water cleaned.....again about 4 days later the call came so I returned 2 weeks later to have a look and clean. The carpet did seem to be sticky but as a club carpet this is always the case and it did seem to have resoiled quickly.  So I'm putting this down to double clean in the tank that maybe still (somehow) in the carpet. So again I re leaned just with F&f rinse in the tank, harder to clean but got there in the end, Monday came and the call came in again....sticky carpets (after a few night of being open) I have booked to go back on the 9th and to check the next day and said I will seek some advice in the meantime.

I think a lot of this is in her head because the fist time I cleaned it itwas extremely bad and unbelievably sticky..

Is there anything I can try one final time?

Any advise would be great thanks.

Night club carpets by there nature have a very high soil load. A lot of this is sugary based soiling from spilt drinks etc.  In my opinion the best product as a pre spray for these type of jobs is Chemspecs Enzall. I used to clean all Newcastle Breweries pub carpets and they only had them cleaned when the environmental health officer demanded it. Enzall was my choice of product and performed really well, even on thick blacktop.
I think the problem you are having is that the cleaning is not removing all the soiling and there are sticky residues left. Don't take that as a criticism as even with the most powerful truckmounts dirty water is left in the carpets. It is possible they may have had foam parties in there in the past as well which may have left soapy residues.
To tackle this I would pre-spray with Enzall, allow 10-15 minutes dwell time then rinse out with plain hot water. You could if you have the equipment then go over with a rotary machine and some dry bonnets to dry off or even using a misting of an Encapsulator like Dynamal which will help "lock" in any residues remaining.

You need to alter your mindset.... ::)roll

The carpets were different from the first time you cleaned them,  why assume it's because of something you've done different?

You don't know what's happended to the carpet in the time between the last clean,  just admitting it was your fault and maybe due to using a different chemical was total guesswork

Nothing you used would cause a resoiling problem so the problem is caused by what is in the carpet  (which you did'nt put thier so it's not your fault)  why apoligies for something that is not your fault?.

You are now working from a position of weakness  that it your problem and you did something wrong ....which is not the case. It thier problem caused by them, you are the good guy trying to put it right.

I would be inclined to prespray as John suggests with Enzall but rinse using Liquid High Heat to make advantage of its acid side cleaning to also lower the pH and encapsulate any residues.

How many people use the night club could be hundreds or even a thousand all spilling drinks just think how much alcohol will be in the carpet even after just one Saturday night.

I wanted to issue a tippy cup to the one we used to clean so that they would spill less.

Are you sure they are not using you for a free maintenance clean for as long as they can get away with it.

The problem is not all the crap is being rinsed out,  what difference would lowering  the ph or trying to encapsulate the remaining soil do? what would happen to any 'encapsulated' soil?  would it just sit thier in its encapsulated state  totally inert. Or are you expecting it to be vacuumed out over time.

This carpet is totally  full to the bottom of the fibres with sticky  drinks spills,

It needs a heavy ( hot)  flushing by a powerfull machine, the dirt wants removing not altering

Yep its all about the rinse, bout the rinse not the treble
Its all about the rinse, bout the rinse not the treble -- and HEAT
the chems are just one part of the solution(!)
And for good rinsing you need to be attached to a tap and have an APO!

I would use Enzall and rinse with Liquid Formula 90 at 500:1

I like liquid high heat for domestics but you'll remove more soiling with L90 at its Wool Safe dilution in the club environment.

Lots of heat  for rising and if you're using a truckmount at some distance, then the use of an inline heater at the 50ft wand hose length will boost both cleaning and reduce drying times,

Use Airmovers to help the drying process in the main traffic lane areas.

Take a damp meter in a check to see if you have a damp carpet before you start. I've cleaned quite a few and they've been sodden from the previous nights use by clubbers. I've also lost count of the times I've arrived onsite and seen the contract cleaners damp mopping carpets with high alkaline for hard floors! You'll need Prochems powered defoam down first to control the foam build-up.

One club manager once said I'd caused the seams to split on his carpets. This was before I'd even set up to clean, so I pointed out the above!

In this environment the carpets really are abused with the protein based soils. So, I would offer monthly, bimonthly and 3 monthly cleans

We clean carpets in Plymouth's night club land and they all get done on a monthly schedule. Every time we clean them, without fail, they are sticky to the touch and the waste water is minging. With pint after pint of beer being thrown about every night they're bound to get in a state no matter what chemicals you use.

Hot enzall followed by rotary with shampoo brush. Best if you can shower feed the solution. Then rinse with  hot liquid formula 90.  Rotary again with soil sorb pads

Don't forget some of these clubs have foam parties, nothing worse for leaving sticky residue
