Lovely to drive it's just like a car. You can't hear any water sloshing in the back when driving. It's a little heavy on fuel around 27 to 30 ish mpg on the rounds loaded up. Would def recommend one to anyone  :)

I think most if not all transits are heavy enough on juice but solid work horses, I've had 2 over the years and never once let me down if defo consider a newer one when it's time to upgrade

You don't even really notice when loaded up with 500 litres so true what you say about being a workhorse. I have come from vw transporters and this is a much nicer place to be.

Interesting...
I am i right in thinking the Transit was much cheaper, TWC?
What power did it have?
Just briefly, could you list the pro's and cons of each van to compare please?
Perhaps the top 3?

My brother in law has just bought the 125bhp tranny and it is nice but i didn't think it was as nice as the 180bhp transporter but the VW was much more expensive.

IMHO you get more value for money with the transit. Although mine is on contract hire I was offered to purchase for 19800 otr inc vat. When you put this next to a vw you would be lucky if you got a startline.

Pros
1: lots more extras for less money alloys Dab radio heated seats etc
2: much nicer place to be and drives so well loaded up with water and road noise is very low.
3:looks much more modern than the vw which is very dated now.

Cons

1: Not quite as fast as the t5 although mine was 180bhp
2: little niggly bits like rust on inside of wheel even brand new on the hub. Water pes onto the ecu into engine bay when it rains believe it or not. So for ford clearly have little faults.
3: ford bodywork not as good as vw colour coding very poor and orange peel everywhere.

Overall I love the van and despite little bits it's IMHO a better all rounder than the vw. The t5 is a nice weekend van but not a out and out work van.

Thanks Gareth. The T6 is rumoured this year i think.
Wonder what it'll be like in comparison...

I have heard that that proper t6 won't be out till 2020 but this year is another facelift and and the dash will be similar to a passat. They are bringing out a 150 bhp petrol version which has been released over in Europe.

With all the future drama of diesel engine emissions and the running costs associated with them, I can see a return of the petrol engine to our vans in the future.

This is an example of how NOT to have your van signwritten / wrapped ... yes its mine and yes its too crowded ... the list of services are now bigger as the company fooked up the font size.

Keep promising to get it redone but £700 a lot of dosh to throw away plus probably getting a bigger van within next 12 months.

On the plus side the customers recognise me straightaway and it has gained me work so it has worked.

Why 3 phone numbers Ian 101?

Tried something different with the 0800 but in the 2 years prob had 5 customers use it (you can log on and see the activity) plenty of people trying to sell me stuff though  ::)roll

Binned it off end of Jan so another reason to get van redone perhaps but at 5 customer calls in 2 years not a priority
