« on: March 16, 2015, 04:56:31 pm »
What am I doing wrong? I bought a new Clarke pump,  connected 1 1/2" hose,  dropped it into the IBC,  switched on at plug and nothing ??? I had a back up pump which I bought second hand,  so switched over the transfer hose,  dropped it in IBC , switched on and same again, nothing ???   HELP!

There's usually an rcd button on the plug, have you tried pressing that?

hmm a bit hard to try and diagnose the problem over the internet so......
I would first check that the socket you are plugging the pump into works and is not faulty, try plugging in a different appliance to see if it works.
If the socket works ok then it must be something with the pump although it seems unusual that 2 pumps will not work as you have stated.
Is the float switch rising up in the water?

Sockets are fine,  float switch is rising. The only thing I can think of is that I have put 1 1/2"tranfer  hose on, I think the stepped adaptor thread it came with was only 1 1/4", so I put another one on it,  surely it would still power up tho?

if sockets are working, have you checked/swapped a fuse in  plugs?  hose should make no difference.

A had ruled that out as it's a brand new pump, but I will check the fuse out out tomorrow after work.

If their is not enough water in tank but you can reach the float switch just lift it up above pump until pump kicks in .
