My water consumption has increased drastically over the last month and a half. I've starting concentrating on growing my business instead of plodding on.

I currently have a 10 inch, 450 gpd system from Purefreedom but it's just not producing enough, even with a booster pump and 2000lts in holding tanks. These were bone dry this Friday by the time we'd done a weeks work , with the system producing no stop.

I reckon with all the extra conservatory and gutter cleans we're going to get over the sunnier (ha ha ha ) days, we'll be using in excess of 2500ltrs a day between us.

So after my marathon explanation, which RO system should I be looking at to keep us in water.

There is only one choice the 4040 I've just changed from exactly the same system as you to a low pressure 4040 and produce about double without a booster pump on it

I can't see how you can use 2,500 litres a day between two. That's beside the point but that is massive consumption.

8weekly !'ve got a 400ltr, I then have another 400ltr and a 600ltr vehicle out working. I'm probably using around 500-700ltrs a day just doing regular cleans without all the extras. I pop back for lunch each day and top up.

I didn't say we were using that yet, but it's definitely going to be pushing that soon.

I can use all 400ltrs on a full gutter, fascia, conservatory and windows job in around 3-4 hours.

I was thinking of a 40/40 but where do I look for a good quality one and do they vary massively in production rate/lifespan?

Might sound stupid, but have you thought about fan jets as according to your numbers.

You are using 1.6L every min for 240 mins. Seems alot.

Never tried fans 23 (stuck in my ways I guess), I do use quite a high flow on pencils but rinse quickly.

Not really that bothered about changing technique after 7 years poling, but I do understand I could be using more water than need be.

is a 40/40 the best solution for around 2,500 litres a day?

why are you wasting pure water on gutter and fasica cleans.piece of pipe hose lock each end use customers out side tap plug hose reel straite to tap.

I have done that in the past on jobs where I'm a long way from home and in danger of using all 400lts in one hit, but I don't like to do this as lots of people are on water meters and also not everyone has an external tap.

My vote is for a Grippa set up though.

Have you thought about on board production as well to help with the situation ?

I had RO & Di in my original van set up but stripped it out and went static, as i felt it would hold me back if i ran out midday (2 & 1/2 hours to fill from empty). It only takes around 7 minutes to fill my 400ltrs from the static ibc.

I'll get on this tomorrow morning as I feel we could be running low next week. Had it filling since friday afternoon and only one 1000ltr tank full so far.

I missed the RO part in the first part. I had it in my head you was using a boosted yet old 40/40 system.

A non boosted 450gpd doesn't even keep two vans going here.

Get a  proper 40/40 job done.

Ps my non boosted 450gpd will achieve 800-1000L In a 24hr period.

I use between 600-850L a day just in my van.

Yes I agree with the above 40/40 seems to be the best.

I use a Merlin 720, set up in the van so if I know I am going to need water, i connect up to commercial premises outside tap an leave while I trad.

Not the quickest by any means but I will fill 500L tank in 5 hours, or so, or will top up as I go around jobs. Little bit easier being on commercials as to domestics.

I have noticed that here is liverpool water is pretty good but crossing over the water to the Wirral and the water is no good at all.

I get between 7-16 tds after Merlin around Liverpool, tested quite a few sites over the water and best I was getting was 100 plus after Merlin.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago, after some great advice on here and lots of research I went with a company called Vyair.

Ive just had a 4040 Low Pressure membrane set delivered from Vyair.
All you need is a piece of plywood to attach it too and hose.

They will even send you a water pressure gauge so you can get a correct water pressure reading, that way they can recommend the best system for you.

If money is no object then you can buy complete setup kits between £800-£1000

Vyair including spare filters were just over £500:00

single 4040 with booster pump will give you around 230lph low ppm saving resin, no booster pump 100-120 depending on psi (min 70)
hf5 4040 can give you 130-160lph  but with higher ppm min 50 psi non boosted, 300lph with booster pump is achievable, ppm wont change much as flow rate has to be higher to achieve it.

hf 5 4021 40-80lph no booster pump, never had better results due to my mains pressure  issues

figures above are real life based on my own experience. others may have had better results.

Thank you to everyone for their experience of different RO results. Very much appreciated.

Vyair was a company that I had completely forgotten about, so will give them and gaps a call tomorrow to see what they can offer.

Looks like I'm going to have nearly 2000 litres in the holding tanks for the morning, no major add on jobs for next week, so I'll see how the water copes with just regular domestics.

Thanks for the reply - we can custom build to your requirements and budget. The highest spec can include full intelligence and auto flush if required, or a basic 40/21 40/40 system if preferred.
