Flat tanks?
« on: March 14, 2015, 11:49:11 am »
I have a 350 upright with no air lock issues and a 210 flat which is a complete pain. Dose anyone have the same issue with their flat tanks.
I hang the hose out on to the ground until water flows then connect to the pump, although I have wasted at times 20-30 minutes going back and forward trying to resolve it. For now the tank has been removed!

How high are your pumps from the van floor?

shur-flo fitted on top of a battery box (DIY) I use the hozelok type stop connections. The upright 350 has no issues and I actually drove upto stirling one day last year and bought another pump and controller to rule out that it wasn't the pump. I can use the two tanks at times when I need to get the work done so would like to solve the problem

I use a flat tank and - following advice from this forum - I put my pumps as close to the van floor as I could get them; the pump pressure switch is about 1 cm from the van floor.

It's very rare I get an airlock now and that's only when the tank is nearly empty and I've been driving about so the water has 'fallen out' of the pump.

My suggestion would be to drop your pumps to the floor level.

It's the same one I use, you heat the hose up in boiling water & insert it into the pipe while it's soft & supple.

The thing is if I drop the box to ground level until it starts pumping out it should clear then I return the box to it's place and reconnect the hose reel, start working and its the same old poop again.
It's got to be the connections that are letting air in combined with the lack of pressure from the flat tank. ???
Thanks for info on the tampon things I'll try and order a few.

Just keep the pumps as close to the van floor as you can get them, and leave them there.

I bet that solves the problem.
