Hi there fellow windies,

I am new to the business and have recently resertved a domain name for my business.  I need a small website I believe to be taken seriously but more people are suggesting Facebook for buainess is a MUST.  How difficult or easy is it to set up a website and integrate with a Facebook page.

I guess one big downside is that a "customer from Hell" could plonk all sorts of negative stuff on your page just for a laugh.  Be interested in others' experiences of FB and is there anyone that can handle all this clever stuff for me?

Hi Gary ,iam in the same predicament with this,ive been up and running for 9 months and tried local free papers leaflet drops etc ive never been on facebook but alot of people say its the way to go iam just trying to get hold of any info to do it right ie does it incur a cost for an advert etc. All the best Andy

I understand the setting up of the page costs nothing.  It's having the know how of where to go next.

facebook ok if u can sort thru the wasters and the ones wanting it done for a fiver.

The way to avoid them is to say summit like "Window cleaning from £you min price" sorry no 1 off's

unless of course u don't mind doing one offs for a fiver

I have a Facebook page. I have endeavoured to make it look as professional as I can, with a few paragraphs about myself and how I got into window cleaning, together with a few photos and a short video. I have gained a few customers from it, and surprisingly perhaps they are all good.

I see window cleaners advertising their wares on our local buying and selling website.

I think it's a waste of time, they just want the cheapest. 

The last time someone asked for a quote there "Wanting a good reliable and cheap window cleaner", someone tagged me in the post, and I just replied "I'm not good or reliable" and left it at that.

It never worked for me, but I'm not a fan of Facebook anyway. Perhaps I didn't put enough care into it.
Give it a try though, it may work well for you.

can you have a page where comments are disabled? I have tried to set mines up like this but always allows comments.

what you can do is make your friends admins on the page and either you or them add there friends to the page this builds up a larger audience

I am in Ireland, so it's not possible here (no postcodes where I live).

I belong to a local buy/sell/swap type group, where occasionally someone looking for a window cleaner puts up a post. I regularly earch for any new requests and pm anyone I find. I have some facebook friends who are also in the group, and they recommend me as well.

There must be other ways to advertise to a wider audience, but I am a duffer with technology, so I am still trying to get to grips with what I already have!

You can select what age group and what town. You can get your Facebook advert in front of around 5000 people living locally for around a tenner.

Got a facebook page probably had two jobs in total off it, get more work off "friends" seeing my timeline posts. The local facebook buy and sell pages are a waste of time for me as I'm competing with people who have borrowed their grandads wooden ladders or have an electric karcher.

The time spent fannying about on facebook would be more productive tapping doors
