Your windows were cleaned today slips?
« on: March 01, 2015, 05:00:17 pm »
Hi about to order 10,000 cards to put through doors each time we clean and wondering if anyone puts payment details on there cards
Ie.account number sort code and address?
A lot of my customers are now paying by DD and bank transfer but feel a bit uncomfortable about sharing my details to the world!!
Can anyone share what they put on there slips
Cheers

You can only pay into a sort code and account number. They are useless  without the long card number and security code on the back

I've actually gone a bit further and leave an invoice as I believe this represents an opportunity to talk to your customer and educate them about your other services I.e. gutter and fascia cleaning etc.  Each customer has a unique ID number and I also give my Bank details - sort code and account no.  I have no concerns giving this out......why would you?

Each invoice advises the customer of the approx date of their next clean and I believe this approach sets me apart from other window cleaners who just pop a slip through the door.  My invoice is not rocket science - it's a dead easy design and if you want to see it, please email me.

my normal "windows cleaned today" cards do not have my bank details on.if they want to pay by BACS/standing order i give them a separate slip with them on or text them.they only need your details once.

for invoice customers(large domestic/commercial jobs) my details are on my invoices.

my normal cards have:

company name/phone no.

list of the other services i offer

date of clean and WINDOWS CLEANED TODAY

thats it
price higher/work harder!

Not quite, mate.
With your account number and sort code, one could take upto £5k just through GoCardLess.

Business bank account told me yes it's safe for acc and sort code and in branch they told me not to put a receipt in the bin out side the bank as it has my acc number and sort code on it!
What a strange thing to say I thought so I questioned them and they hesitated oh eh oh it's just eh. ::)roll I don't think they know their arse from their elbow.

In the next few weeks i will be removing my bank details from payment cards and just putting GoCardless instructions and benefits on the back of the cards , Mine are postcard size done at local printers and professional looking .

Personally unless you have close to a 1000 custys  to clean each month i would not be getting 10,000 done as before you have got through them you are likely to want to change them . My next batch is my third lot and i have changed them each time .

Can you explain how this is done? I thought it was quite safe to give out your acc. no and sort code. They are on the bottom of every cheque and AFIK the banks have never issued warnings about giving out cheques unless they are blank and signed!

Because to set up an account all you need is the full address (probably on the slip, also but if not, easy enough to find) sort code and account number and nothing more.
The default limit is set to £5k.

They are on the cheques but remember banks tried to phase cheques out, yes it didn't happen, but they did try.
And more & debit cards don't have account & sort code numbers on too...

Sorry I don't use go cardless.
So what you're saying is. I can get someone else's sort code acc. no , and address.
Sign up for an account with Go Cardless using those details.
Then using those details authorise a payment of up to £5k to be taken out of that account?
With no checks or security?
If they find out about this in Lagos we're doomed!!!!

This paranoia about divulging Bank details is making me laugh.  How can anyone "steal 5k" from your account.....especially if it's not there to start with?
