I have mine on the pole hose...what taps have you been having problems with?

This reminds me as I have had problems with Gardiners ones...4 have fell apart since last November gardiners kindly set me out 3 new replacements one was the as same the other 3 that fell apart and that quickly broke too...but the other 2 seem a slightly different design and  I think seem better....

Time will tell.

As above but I run a two tap system (one up by the gooseneck and one on the pole hose).

Think the Gardiner ones could be improved tho!! Broke a few in the last year.

I got on fine with them and one day they decided to give me the two fingers and started falling apart, got new ones and same happened so tried the Unger hiflo valve and it's been good.

Was it the red push fit things that fell apart lads?

As that's what happened on all the ones that fell apart on me.

Hopefully Alex Gardiner reads this post as there's an obvious flaw with these taps...

Nothing to do with the way I have been handling them..I sent photos of mine to gardiners and they sent replacements out straight away...I never drag them across the ground and rarely drop them.

I had trouble with them as well, I had two and they both fell apart after a week of use they are rubbish, I stick with the ones I have always bought off ebay and put them between pole hose and main hose here is a link they are very good http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Ball-Valve-1-4-3-8-1-2-BSP-Female-Female-Male-Female-Reduced-Prices-/231470062222?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item35e4b0da8e

Get a tap that connects between pole hose and reel. So simple and easy.
We look at them, they look through them.

the push fit pole taps are ok if you have one fitted at the brush end.they last ages but if your dragging them along the ground fitted on the other end of your hose 2 mins! ;D

ive been working like this for a while now as i got sick of my aqua daptors breaking, springs snapping, screw threads shearing off and i had two that just broke in half!i must of spent £250+ on them over the years.

i lose a bit of water when extending the pole but i can live with that for now.i might try an aqua tap next though.
price higher/work harder!

I think the key with the pole taps is to hold the pole hose between the tap and main hose (as opposed to between tap and pole), this way when you pull the hose along you are not putting stress on the tap i.e increasing risk of the teeth failing.

I have used them a few years (from Gardiners) and not had any problems.

I use a use a irrigation tap fitted at the top of the pole. Its the tap used in micro irrigation you will need to ash how its done.

The way I'm going through these pole taps I'm seriously considering going back to a aqua dapter ;D

I never had any problems with the AD apart from the odd broken spring.
