Wich booster pump attaches to my hose before r/o
« on: February 23, 2015, 05:09:53 pm »
Basically I rang colins water products (very helpful ) told him my 300gpd system was only making 150gpd of pure.
He said check your psi so I did and it was 30... He said that's your problem then.
I currently have a inline booster (aquatec 8800) wich cuts out wich im guessing is due to the lack of pressure?

So wich booster pumps will increase the hose water going to R/o?? And we're can I get one from

Told ya  :P

The aquatec is the best one i've used mate (purefreedom) so i'd get another
I've tried collins & john hewitts and the aquatec is best by far...
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

No the one you said was inline one... I need one on them big ones that has a tank build in that fills up and blasts the water through at about 80psi. I have an aquatec and there isn't enough pressure and it cuts out

No mate, i said your pressure was low...never mind

Odd, my 8800 boosts to 80psi, but i guess mine must be the odd one out...
Or maybe your boosters duff?(frost damage?inverter box damage?)

I don't know but surely if there's not much pressure getting to the pump then it will cut out?
It works when I turn the hose off so must be a pressure thing

It works when you take the pipe off the outlet?
You may have a blockage in one of your pipes mate, do you flush your r.o regularly?
Switch your pump on, then take off the pipes going into the and see if your getting good pressure going in. Do this with various pipes to work out where the problem is...
(Everything plumbed in properly?)
(It may be worth taking all the pipes off at some point, and letting them soak in bleached water, there is a post on the forum a while while back, explaining how to clean out your r.o)

Not going to lie I very rarely flush my system.
But the man who supplied the ro seems to think 30psi making 1litre every 11mins is actually over producing with such little pressure, he said 60/80psi is what you need for my system to produce 300gpd

Yeah, i bought my 450gpd from collins (lee) many moons ago, helpful chap

It maybe producing well considering the pressure but that doesn't mean you might not have a partial blockage, maybe causing the pumps pressure switch to kick in.

A tube, with say a 70% blockage, will still let water go through. So if the flow is justba trickle all the water goes through.
With the same blockage, but more water trying to pass through, all of a sudden the blockage effects everything...

Does that make sense, i'm not sure!!!

When you disconnect the pipe off the outlet of the booster, does it work ok?

Yes I get what you mean because there isn't a constant rate of water due to a possibly blockage?
And Yeh the pump works fine after I disconect the pipe at outlet or when turning the water off quickly.

What do you mean it works when turning your water off quickly?

I would go with methodically disconnecting pipes after your pump (i'm assuming its between membranes & prefilters) and see if you can pinpoint were the problem is...

Or see if you can borrow a booster from a mate to see if it is your pump would be a good idea...
But the pump you have (when working) is a good pump mate. Mine boosts my pressure from 25-30psi to 80psi)

I'd better point out, it may not be a blockage but its a good start!!

You don't need one with a tank, most people get one from machine mark but here's a link if your interested, been using mine for over four years....

http://www.anglianpumping.com/products/dab-jet-pumps-230v

Mines the 82 model ( second on list ) you can get them with stainless steel end or pressure switch

I know mate my pump worked perfect until I move house! I used to make 400-450gpd with a 300gpd system and that booster

Is you system a 300 gal small membrane RO it sounds like you 3  membranes are shot exchange the for 3x 150 gal membranes from Gates water they are very good. Also test the pump flow from the filters before the pump and after the pump to see how long it tahes to fill a 2 liter coke bottle. I think you membranes a stuffed.

Membranes are fine that's the first thing I changed and there was a little improvement but nowere near how it should be.
It's either low pressure or my booster pumps broke, I need to try it on someone else's system but cant find anyone.

i got a 8800 pump 1 week ago,  i was waiting for a pressure gauge from vyair,   it never turned up.
got this booster pump from purefreedom,       what used to take me 9 hours to fill a 220 water butt now takes 3.45  hours,
cut by a half.

do you have it on the end vessel going into first membrane.      with a hosepipe  going into RO system itself.

Yep exactly the same pump fitted after the pre filters going into membranes
