aquatap breaking
« on: February 19, 2015, 08:30:19 pm »
Anyone else had there aquatap break off inside the angle adapter?
This is the second time it's happened. The thread snaps inside the angle adapter even with ptfe tape.

Chris, is it the Aquatap breaking or the angle adapter? Where are you buying you angle adapter if its the later?

They have been strengthend. Only happens with certain angle joints that grip the top couple of threads instead of all the way down.
Send it back to me Chris and I will send you a replacement.

It's the thread on the aquatap that is breaking. It's a gardiners angle joint.

Hi peter. Iv fixed it for now. There was still some thread on the aquatap so iv refitted it with lots of ptfe tape and some glue.
If I get another month or so out of it then happy days, then il replace both parts. 6 months life is about what I expect from most wfp consumables other then poles.
Thanks for the offer though, il order another tap from you very soon so I have a replacement ready.
If I continue using a gardiner angle adapter, which I will as there the best, is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future? ( other then overtightening)

Yes Chris I knew it was. The part that is breaking has been strengthened. It's not a lot thicker as the tooling would only allow that part to be adjusted slightly, but it should be enough to stop the problem.  You should get much more than a year out of an AquaTap.

Don't use Vaseline it creates a vacuum between the two o rings and it tightens up.
