i have a caddy highly recommended especially if your a sole trader.
Has for bigger the better, i always feel its a lot of wasted space but it does allow for expansion etc, i have no intentions of expanding /  second man etc so i am happy with a caddy drives well

you wont go wrong with a LWB transit connect(900 kg payload version).

you can fit in a 500L tank and frame easily and plenty of room for trad gear,reels and poles.

ideal for a sole trader.love mine.

Caddy is a lovely van but if you're on a budget, id go for a newer motor with less miles on the clock and a different van.
The VW's hold their price better than some other makes.
Is that fair? Perhaps. But i wouldn't gamble if i was budgeting...
Like Daz says, the mini transit is a good buy.
And easy to get spares for.

I would also go with vivaro.

Vivaro's have too many known problems.

I'd go for a Transit. Cheap to run if you drive sensibly, reliable and cheap spares.

The Caddy is a lovely drive and extremely well made but you're paying, what I consider, OTT for it.

Payload will depend on the spec of the system being ffitted - size of frame and if it has filters? Is this hot or cold?

i think the caddy has a payload of 720kilo  so a 400/ 500l at most ide say ide go for a biger van like a vivaro,haice,expert ect

IMO you need a payload of 900kg minimum for a full 500L tank,ladders and other gear.

I reckon the OP ought to take Daz's post on board.  I usually reckon on at least 500kg over and above the water weight - but it depends what is normally going to be carried.  I have a 800 ltr tank in a 2.9t Trafic.  I put quite a lot in there including myself - plus a ladder on top.  I left the tank empty.  I had 750kg to spare so filling the tank would have had me overloaded by 50kg.  However, I wouldn't need to carry all that equipment - plus there's no need to fill the diesel.  In case anyone is wondering - yes, I am fat.  I like to fill as close as possible with water because 800ltr can last me two days; my water supply is a few miles from home.
