dont forget to mention the osbourne reciept remark. he says he always ask his window cleaner. gardener etc for a reciept for any work done .and he says alll members of the public should asks for one .
What he for got to mention was any invoice or reciept he has for jobs done or if he buys evan a paper clip .he can claim this money back .you try doing the same

Unfortunately, the media will twist anything you say to them in order to conform to their pre-determined agenda.
If you think of it, please make it clear that cash does not equal fraud; it's just a convenient way for some customers to pay - particularly if they struggle to write a cheque due to something like arthritis, poor eyesight etc.

I do wonder how HMRC would view it if I took my accounts in to them to sort out (as you are allowed to) and gave them a piece of paper for every single job I had done that year.  Multiply that by every window cleaner in the country doing the same - never mind any other tradespeople.  I bet the politicians would soon change their tune.
Personally, I find it very insulting for them to assume that a cash payment automatically equates to a fiddle - and that from the most corrupt vermin in the whole country.  Perhaps these scumbags are judging us by their own standards.

I've never calculated it but I would estimate half online, a quarter by cheque and a quarter cash.

With the odd exception, I don't knock when I finish a house. I just drop a bill. It saves bags of time & I don't have endless conversations about the weather. Most pay online.
