Moss removal
« on: February 17, 2015, 09:19:24 am »
I have another moss removal from a roof and have two questions if anyone can help?
1, I did the last by hand and it took a fair while for two of us, was wondering if there is a pressure washing device, spinning brush on wheels (seen something on you tube.
2, what is the best moss kill spray (customer says money no object)?
Thanks
Mark

I can't be asked to clean roofs - prefer drains but there is someone on here with one but I can't remember who it was

1. I wouldn't waste money on mosmatic,  Basically it's a fsc, (no brushes) produces limited results nightmare to use safely .. use lance / turb,  I think Kevin had moss for sale

2. Lots of washes available all very similar, simple  websearch for roof coating suppliers and you will find them, As Roof coatings require a fungicidal wash to validate their guarantees.  Algoclear has been flogged to death on here.
Again I think Kevin is now a supplier  :-X

I have a mosmatic roof cleaner …great on some roofs.
I use Algoclear there is nothing on the market as good/strong.
Don't get into roof coatings …the  product has a manufacturers guarantee not  the installation.

Roof coatings have a 10 year manufacturers guarantee … it will never be the coating that fails.
It will be how or to what it was applied…leaving the contractor to sort it out.

Removing the large deposits of moss and using Algoclear will give great ,long lasting results.

Mike if you think Iso paint (or whoever) you are buying your roof "paint" from are going to come along and sort out a customers roof that has gone wrong, after 5/6 years. Then you are having a turkish.
It will be down to you as the contractor.

The paint supplier that my painting contractor uses stands by the paint and its application but you have to abide by their system. The rep looks at the job, writes the Method statement and inspects the job at any stage he wishes. I've not done a roof but thats what happens when we do industrial cladding

i don't expect them to. We have roofs which have been coated over 7 years ago still look great,  Last week we cleaned a roof in prep for coating in a local village, 2 neighbours had their roofs coated by us over 4 yrs ago they still look great, that's the reason they choose us. So again usual spiel roof coatings don't last is more tripe, anyone looking at Algoclear should check out their website all most every image would fail bAsic working at heights regs sums it up for me. Now need to get on as on holiday next week, so no I cant afford your vac ffs  ::)roll

There you go nice pic from your website  ::)roll

I think there may be a few issues here  ;D

Just to get you started;

!, One guy standing on top of velux ... er no fall protection what so ever ::)roll, generally speaking that can damage the frame..
2, On previous posts I asked you how you protect wash from entering storm drainage as its not allowed to , you replied 'if it runs into the guttering you have applied too much' ...er its overflowing the guttering  ::)roll
3, Not one ladder has any safety devices attached, ie in case you don't understand , no roof stand offs or base supports..

And the list goes on  ::)roll

If it helps I will add a pic a day from your site with constructive comments, just to help you out  :)
