Tried the BNI as a guest! Seems to work well for trades that do 'big one off jobs' - referral for a builder to quote for an extension would be an example.

For me no use at all!! And for £1200 per annum plus a tenner for brekkie at 7a.m. no chance.

 I went to a BNi meeting once as a guest, its a mixed bunch from builders, accountants, solicitors, the principle is
 they network between each other to get work, if I had joined for the first year cost would have been here in Galway
 Ireland including one off membership fee around 1,500 euros, the breakfast is 10 euro. I googled BNI and did a lot
 of research on it, its Global, its massive, only a small percentage of members get a decent ROi, the rest are wasting
 their time & money, so I didn't think it was worth the risk for that sort of money.

Utter crap.
And the breakfast was crap too.
1 bacon
1 sausage
1 egg
2 toast
loads of cereal
a croissant
and coffee that when you got up to get another (yup, no waiter) everyone stared.
I went about 5 times on one of the mornings. On one particularly narcissistic fella's pitch, he waited until i came back to finish. If there was a slower way to get a coffee i wish i knew it. I took as long as i thought i could get away with. When id sat down and tucked my chair under I gave him a cheery 'carry on' (think Mark & Lard)

For sheer comedy value, try one (for god sake don't give any of them your card, nothing will come of it) but don't think you'll get any work from it. You won't

It tends to cost a few hundred pounds if you qish to pursue ie.  Even if I would have got more work from it, I can't stomach all the bs and posing.  Reminds me of a hybrid of Amway and freemasonry.

I went to one local to me for a year or so.  It wasn't BNI - something called 'Top Dog'.  No membership fees, just a fiver per monthly session breakfast included.  Ok for a laugh but got very little work from it.

Good mix of local trades and well attended.

Stopped going when I retired, too early in the morning!!

I went to a business club for about a year when I first started wfp. It used to be every month at local golf club. I paid £15 for a hot buffet or it was £5 just for the meeting! The only time that I actually enjoyed it was the once a year networking night where you would mingle in a hall with up to 100 other people trying to sell each other some business etc! Worst part though was having loads of worthless business cards in my pocket at end of night!
