With withering Yell results in recent years, I have downsized dramatically, but kept a very small ad. Anyway this year I decided that I would not bother with it all.
A month or so back I received a letter from Yell informing that they had changed a few things. One of which was, that they were going to automatically renew advertising, unless they were notified to the contrary. In other words they would go again with my advert and if I didn't want them to I had to let them know, otherwise they would carry on.
I ignored their letter as I considered it to be out of order. I mean from my point of view, If I were to send a similar letter to one of my customers, telling them that, as they had, had their carpet cleaned on a certain date last year, I will automatically book it in for the same (or as near to) date this year, do you think I would have a leg to stand on if I were to threaten legal action, if they hadn't got back to me to inform that they didn't want it doing.
Yell are pursuing me for the cost of the advert. It is not a lot, but is the principal of the thing.
What do you think.
Dave.
