I agree with Tosh's post on Internet grief. Mass mawkishness is all over Facebook and is often vomit inducing. I also think that those that type rip under those type of threads demonstrate their insincerity by not feeling strongly enough or having enough respect to hit the caps key in order to type RIP.

One minute these people are pouring out their "grief" and the next minute they're re-posting right wing racist drivel.

Tosh why not just say sorry and put this behind you. Your comment was in bad taste as falling and getting injured is a fear to all of us in this industry. You are a mod and should set some sort of example as most mods before you. But been human you  will step out of line some times. So grow a bit bigger and do the right thing.

If you look back through his posts he mentions how he was a mod on a previous occassion

You must be a bit of a sad case to do that, Matt.

As for 'emotional sobriety', you've thrown your toys out of the pram and deleted your account at least four times, not counting all the times you've been banned (not all by me).  Your old accounts litter the ban log.  ;D

Then there was that time you lost your temper, gave a final last statement, deleted your account, and then logged on with a sockpuppet account to see what we were saying about you.

You're in your fifties aren't you? ;D

Let it go, mate, and chill a bit.

Now surely people don't do things like that --->sprays screen with peanuts while trying not to laugh

I'm not frightened of falling and getting injured - I rarely work at height, and when I do, I ensure I'm safe - so why should I apologise to you, because of your own personal fears?

But if it makes you feel better, I'm sorry.

There you go, pet.

I'm just too soft, Susan, and some of the members here take advantage of my kind, caring and nurturing personality.

Sometimes it really hurts me.  :'(

Does the rest of him still work?

I'm sure those so upset at Tosh's nasty nasty remarks will of course have checked at the hospital he was airlifted to. After all, they were so concerned about the unfortunate man's welfare that I would not consider that for a moment that the concern they had was just a fleeting thought of sentiment only.

In all honesty, the remark was aimed at Jakey, from a previous discussion we had about ladder use and him being faster than a wpf on ladders.

And you know the grief directed towards me was from either members I've annoyed - like Lickers who always pops up in these instances (he's like a stalker ;D), or ladder users.

But in the words of Gloria Stienam, "The truth will set you free, but first it will 'pee' you off".

They're not arsed about some window cleaner who has knacked himself in a fall; not really.  It wouldn't be difficult to e-mail the reporter from the news item on page 1 of the thread, find out the details, and organise a whip-round for some flowers.  But no-one, including myself, has the motivation to do so.  We don't care enough.

And yes, I understand the irony of your post.

Yup, I admit I couldn't really careless about some window cleaner completely unknown to me who had an accident due to circumstances also completely unknown to me in a place I've never heard of.

I tend to only relate to people and what goes on in their lives on a personal level to people who have in some way a relationship to me. If someone who was a member on here who suffered similar, I'd feel different about it.

It's sad, but people do fall from ladders for what ever reason.

Life goes on.

Well said. I'm 26, off to New York in March. Bought a second hand wfp setup, no way I'd have bought new, holidays much better! Found wfp good, but still do 50% of work trad. Gets me more customers as many hate wfp. Means I can price higher for the trad service. Saves me loads of money on water, I only use about  750l a month ! A small bucket with trad gear is ridiculously cheap.[/
