Van Floor
« on: January 28, 2015, 09:20:26 am »
Hi Guys,

I've just ordered a new Van to put my Truckmount in and was wondering what was the best floor to lay down first.  On my current van, I've got Aluminium chequered plate over ply but over the years the ply has turned to pulp.
Was wondering about Gel coat flooring?

Regards

Henry

Polyurethane coating is really good. Either applied by a pro, Speedliner, Linex etc or DIY using Protectakote.

I have a line-x coating in my van an it is excellent, very very durable, totally waterproof you can literally wash the back of the van out. I would defiantly have it done again.

So do I put Marine ply down first and then put the coating over?

No, I had it sprayed directly to the floor. That way no spillages can make their way under the ply and fester. I also had the bulk head done too which protects it from scratches etc..

You could have it sprayed on top of ply however I was advised against it as it can split at any joins in the ply.

Thanks for your that-  I was  hoping for a flat finish to the floor rather than the original corrugate finish

I've just had a new vivaro and got it speed lined. It's what they use in the police, fire service and dog grooming vans. Indestructible and easy to clean completely water proof. Really happy with it. Let me know if you want the details of the company.

You can ply it first, needed if you are going up the sides. Marine ply is best but expensive. The joins need to be sealed before coating.
