tds rising after 8 weeks.crappy resin again.
« on: January 24, 2015, 04:32:40 pm »
so my tds is 002 after filling up.it was 001 the other day.i changed my resin 10 weeks ago but ive had 2 weeks off at xmas.

i use around 2000L a week so say 16,000L in the 8 weeks.my tap tds is 30.

my resin vessel is the large 25kg one.

my resin used to last about 4-5 months before needing changing.i always bring the vessel in overnight in winter so no freezing up etc.

its tulsion mb 115.im not buying this anymore as its really crap these days.

what else is out there resin wise thats any good?

not happy.these resin manufacturers are having us over lads for sure.its just not the same quality as it used to be! >:(

£400 a year on resin Daz, bargain in my eyes the amount you clean in a week.
I had a garage once, cost me £750 per week before I made a single penny.

the thing is mate it used to last a lot longer.the quality of the resin is going downhill fast.

i have filled up my smaller resin vessel with the remainder of the 25kg bag and ill put this one in front of my other one(double DI)until the first one gets to my tap tds.i might just get another 4 weeks out of it then.

actually mate it works out at around £480 a year in resin if a 25kg bag lasts 2 months.itll last  a bit longer due to double DI

it used to be more like £200-£240 a year in resin before.

If you are getting 76ppm out of RO then you need to change membrane/s Susan.

Your tds out of the tap can rise during certain weather condition's, not talking about cold, more wet and dry weather, this may of affected your resin's life

Tulsion quality varies from batch to batch. I reported it being crap on here at least a year ago but the supplier insisted it was fine. I've since had one really bad bag and one very good one. Mate of mine has had same trouble.

Your resin should last for years - probably don't even need it if your RO is that good  :o

4040 ro with vyair membrane, slower than hf4 hf5 but does a great job bringing the tds down. CFB-plus 10 single pre filter changed every couple of weeks.

Why not run with two 11 litre di's?
That way you can fill both from one bag.
just add the second as soon as tds rises.

Yep I've found the same. Some is great & some is pants- doesn't seem to matter which supplier you use either!!

I have been using the same resin for four years. Crazy  is ti not by recycling and building a unit to do this which can recycling  20 liters a time my day of resin cost are nearly nil. Its taken me allot of research to perfect it but after three years I have it down to a fine art.I currently produce a 1500 liters pure a week and have used the same R O and membranes for 2 year.
I only have 25 liters of resin and reused it over and over again. Its important to know and understand what takes in the process. So I would not advise messing about if you do not understand chemistry.  I know when I started it ate a hole in the garage floor the first time and it did not produce good resin. But there is no short cut to experience.

Yeah there is plenty of videos on it online. I spend very little on resin so CBA

Dazmond im using similar amount of water to you, 400 litres a day 2000 a week and my tap ppm is about 75, i fill straight to the van and then double di after the pump and do a fresh 11 ltr resin change about every 6-7 weeks but this bottle im using now has easily lasted 8-9 weeks now, think its because of the weather having a fair few days off and christmas.
where abouts in manchester are you to get 30ppm, isnt that around altrincham way as i heard its good over there!

Just seen you use a 25kg resin canister. we used to use 25s 50s and even a 100. Issue is shaking and getting the most out of em.

I had a 11L DI hit 001TDS. STILL shaking and rolling to this day and getting zero. I use twin 15L DI's and produce at 008 first DI down to 4 Then second DI down to 0

I would imagine one bag of resin is gonna do me
A 6-12 months.
