« on: January 23, 2015, 11:52:47 pm »

Said I'd go back next week & reclea, But I am OCD on my cleaning methods & results

If u betting man what do you think is the result based on experience ??
1 My error in cleaning ?

3 in between the glass (winter sun)

Evens - they will be dirty on the inside.
2 to 1 - blown unit so streaky in the middle
50 to 1 - bad clean/ crap job by the window cleaner

These people irritate me when they haven't cleaned the insides, had a chap complain the marks were still on the window after 2 reg cleans, asked him to wipe a cloth over the inside while on the phone,  err....  ( few seconds silence ) ok all good now, thanks, bye..

And they don't even say sorry when it's on the inside!

Picked up a new customer. She's had a trad cleaner for 27 years. He retired.

Asked for a price. Got the job.

Asked about 20 times if they would dry ok.

Usually I do my spiel etc.

All I said was. Do you think I'd have any customers left if they didn't dry perfect lol. Shut her up.

100-1 insides, she is using a traditional glass and mirror cleaner to clean the glass, a banker to leave residues and show up very well when the sun shines.

If it's downstairs windows iv noticed on a huge amount of houses have a very slight scaling of the glass, caused by rain water hitting the sill and spraying on the windows. It also has other causes, watering garden etc and can only be noticed this time of year in the low sun.
I cleaned a house this week inside and out, the sun was shining through the living room window and I noticed this issue. My first thought was I'd done a rubbish job with wfp so recleaned that window, dried very quick in the sun, still didn't look great.
So I trad cleaned it, still didn't come up well. In the end had to descale it then reclean and it looked great.
Most downstairs windows will build up a slight limescale issue over time, some more then others depending on window location.
the low sun this time of year will show up even the most miniscule of blemishes and especially fine scaling on the glass.
Glass is never truly  'spotless', in the right light conditions you will always find some sort of blemish. Windows get battered by wind, rain, sun, birds, cats, dogs, insects...

Explain all this to the customer then offer a free courtesy reclean.

But hey you may of just had an off day and done a terrible job as well lol, even more reason to offer the free clean.

Winter sun.

The low angle really shows up flaws in between the glass and what has been used to clean the insides.

I use winsol crystal clear 500. It's very powerful stuff and not suitable for all windows so I always test first.

Don`t spoil your weekend jumping the gun.
Go back on Monday and apologize for her inconvenience having to call you. Which is not problem as It give you time to save a good customer. Take with you some glass cleaner in a spray bottle and few micro fiber. Don`t say to much, make like its normal for windies to try make customer happy. Look at the glass and try cleaning the worst one inside if it is inside offer her an internal clean at a price if its not redo the outside and apologize and say this can happen at this time of the year due to  air born pollutants in the air and frames dripping  after you have cleaned and thank her for calling you back. Say its always difficult seeing if the glass in clean from the ground level with the sun from behind.( Its normal we are not perfect.) What ever you do don`t say to much it make the customer think you are at fault. Let her think you are listing to her/him

;D
same sort of thing happened this week to me.
Second clean on a new reg I did before xmas.
This time though the mrs was home, cleaned got paid.
30 mins later voicemail message " I've just cleaned the insides, one of the panes needs re cleaning and although the window is old and scratched I've noticed a deep black gouge that wasn't there before, can you come back tomorrow and take a look and sort it out ?"

A few hours later that afternoon by text " Ignore the previous voicemail"
No sorry no nothing.  :D

To op,
Its gonna be inside windows or low sun between the panes.  :)

Check to see if its K glass.
Had the same problem, but after some online researcgh, I found that K glass has a reflective elememt to it that reflects heat back in to the building. This is what gives it a cloudy look especially in direct sunshine.

Yep, I was cleaning last week and there was steam coming off the glass. I was using cold water and the heat between the panes made it steam. Very foggy looking glass.
We look at them, they look through them.

check them from the inside. You then will see what the customer sees. If they smoke be careful and wear gloves, that yellow nicotine/3rd hand smoke is carcinogenic. I turn away the stinky smokers.

The Result ;

Water Stained Window !!

(However when I checked all windows I did find a little spotting on a couple at top of window pane & did mention to her,we had a laugh when I said there is always 1 cup in the dishwasher that refuses to be totally clean 99% !...)

Verdict = me not totally 100% bang on as I don't feel WFP is  ??? But doing it this way for years now but still think if you want 100% has to be done trad
But WFP is 100% speed frames etc but sometimes is 99% results aft I have gone due to various factors
What's you view ?
