Ebay 4.1 KVA!
« on: January 20, 2015, 07:54:24 pm »
Ordered a generator which the seller claims to be (in big bold writing) 4.1KVA and 3280W, 17L tank, Loncin engine. So I read the full listing and there is nothing to say it is anything less.

Here's what the manual says, maximum power 2800W, continuous power 2600W, tank capacity 15L.
Manufacturers website states the maximum AC output is 3.1kva and rated AC output 2.6kva.

Now I'm only running a 1400W vacuum which needs 2.5kva generator but if I upgrade to a 2000W vac would the above be of use.
I've clicked the refund option as it's "not as described" but I would be interested to know what kva is required for 2000W.

A 3kva generator was more than capable of starting and running an 1800 watt Bosch 230v electric paving breaker. It would also start and run a 2300 watt 9" Bosch angle grinder.

But you need to know the specs of the 2000 watt vacuum cleaner in order to be sure. There should be a starting current somewhere - you may even have to go to the supplier/importer and get an answer in writing.

Electric items only need that high power to start up once they are running the consumption drops. A 2600 watt should drive a 2.5 kwtt machine as you jenny is 2.6 kwatt. But do check with a sparky.

I bought a new gene off eBay last year (was stated at 6.5kva) Anyway I have had this serviced last month and it is in fact between 3kva. however it ran my 4200 gutter vac with 2 of it motors running so 2800 watts.
Now selling it as I bought a 6.9kva which  runs all 3 easily..
Don't know if it helps

After speaking to them I decided to keep it. They were quite happy to collect and claimed they have an on going issue with china regarding the labelled power. They have tested the power output and it is correct. So having then looked back at the rest of the market there could be some truth in it.

However its powering an old 2000W vacuum no problem which is probably what I'll be buying down the line.

I've got a Loncin 5000 for sale if anyone wants one - runs all three motors of my 3600w vac no trouble.
