Cat Urine got into floorboards
«

Any help on this one please.
Doing an EOT on Friday,The Landlord has told me has scrapped a couple of carpets in some rooms due to cat urine problems.
He says that the urine had gone through the carpet and underlay and has got into the floor boards and giving off odours.
Is there anything that can be applied to the floorboards to sort out this problem?

Hi Wayne
I had an EOT a couple years back absolutely riddled with cat urine. Tried dettol, domestos and steam but to no avail. I didn't know about prochem microsan then, perhaps that may work attacking the odour causing bacteria. But I suspect once its in the floorboards its in there.

Urine creates Uric salts which are continuously damp and give off odours. Bleach such as Domestos rarely has any affect as it is not the right chemical formula to counteract. It will mask for a while but the salts will remain and the odour will eventually return.
You need to treat it with a product specifically designed for the job such as Chemspec Urine Contamination Treatment. Our Nemesis Odour Neutraliser works well as well. Soak the areas affected and allow about 20 minutes dwell then rinse off. You may need to repeat this. Finally soak again with product and leave.
