My father in law is looking to rent out his round as he is approaching retirement. He wants to rent it to me, thereby keeping it in the family. I would be suppling everything other that the customers. Under these circumstances, if indeed these circumstances are at all relevant, what would you say the percentage of the daily takings should go to him?Nick
No still don't understand, I must be thick

Looking at it from his side, if it were me I'd probably look for 20% but I'd also put in a clause to say that you keep the round the size it currently is (i.e. you have to replace losses) and that you put up prices to keep up with RPI.You get an instant round. If the prices are better than yours you're happy as well. He gets a long-term index-linked pension.Vin
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

He can't clean it. Again from your point of view i would not look to loose, from what other here are saying upto 40% of what i cleaned. You'd be better off going and trying to make a new round charging 40% less than what you normally charge if you think it pays.5% or tell him to sell it. "keeping it in the family " LOL !! :-)
When I rented a part round from someone else (with me supplying tools, water, van etc.), I kept 60% and he got 40%. I was OK with this as his prices were quite a bit higher than mine so I was close to what I was earning from my own work. If his charges were similar to mine, it probably wouldn't have happened.I don't want to chat too much on here about the details Nick (I so wish there were a PM facility). If you want to ask anything more, we do bump into each other sometimes (I have the black Trafic) .
