just ordered new xtreme 25
« on: December 12, 2014, 07:46:46 pm »
i had to buy another one!ill just have to put up with my slx 22 until it arrives! ;D

for me they are worth it even though they dont last as long as other poles but the new ones have metal clamping bands so this might improve the wear a bit more.

i just love them.with all the work ive got these days its the easiest way to work IMO. :)

I know you love your xtremes daz, but I picked up
An 18ft facelift phoenix x a few weeks ago, 980g and stiff as brick, absolutly fantastic, short collapsed length, and just amazing clamps. I've got the 25ft for higher stuff, but for £200 I couldn't be happier.

Spending over £500 on an xtreme seems pointless if it only lasted 18 months!

I know you'll never change your mind about xtremes, but there are other amazingly good poles out there...

An Extreme is well worth the money - I wouldn't use anything else now.

I went one worse(financially )
Bought the extreme 18 and 25 dual pole offer

Same as daz, about 18 months max I had replaced section two, three and four with old SLX sections,as a temp measure....
Taken attitude of allowing £10 a week over a year or so, as a 'running cost' and I have extremely  ( no pun intended) light poles to work with

Hurt like crap the week I bought them though....

Mr B
If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

jakeyboy an 18 footer is too short for lots of my work.i only use 2 pole lengths.a 25 ft and 47ft.thats it.

i have lots of awkward windows to clean deep over connys/extensions,3 storey windows, velux and high up first floor windows during the course of my work.using  extreme poles makes this work a lot easier.i also dont wanna be going back to the van for another pole to reach the odd window here and there too often therefore minimizing faffing about time  on the job.

ive used the extremes all day/every day since i got them 18 months ago deangsi.to me i dont see the point in leaving them in the van when you ve spent good money on them to make your workload easier.

I've been a slx user for years but I think I'm going to bite the bullet this year and order an extreme 22. That way my slx 25 will get used a little bit, and the extreme will do all the rest.

Am I not right in saying that these new metal inserts should ELIMINATE wear and not just reduce it? Surely aluminium isn't going to wear down because of a plastic clamp?

Or do the sections around the clamping points wear just as much as points themselves?

jonny i think the poles will still wear but not as much.im happy to buy a new day to day pole every 2 years.the extremes are worth it mate for ease of use alone. :)

You can't eliminate the wear of any pole because they wear from the inside too. However, the metal inserts certainly slow it down. I wonder if a teflon tape would be viable instead of insulating tape Gardiners use.

We have extreme poles from 2011. Used daily.

If the pole is correctly maintained then I don't see why it should be wearing out after 12-18 months.

I have an extreme which is well past 2 years old and have never been lacquered.
