Is 12L water heater better than 6L
« on: December 10, 2014, 10:25:11 pm »
HI can anyone tell me if a 12L water heater is better than a 6L Water heater. Is that LPM? I think my pump works at 6 LPM max would that be safe with a 12L water Heater or would I be better going for the 6L?

Thanks in advance

Go for the 6lpm.

The 12lpm will probably require too much flow to even start up, and you would have to run your pump flat out to even have a chance of getting it to fire up.

They all have sensors that detect if there isn't enough flow rate and cut out.

Go with the 6 the flow will have no effect as the valve that switches on the flame is Psi effective but it would be a job to get the numptys on the heater set and you could find you will often have very hot water. Which would put you hose and fitting at risk of bursting and even the boiler bursting, I learned the hard way having a boiler burst on me.

Why do you insist on talking such bull ?

They use a flow switch to fire the boiler up not a pressure switch , you need to check the boilers minimum flow rate , the 6l ones are usually 0.5 gpm(us) which is around 2.2 litres per minute ....ideal for window cleaning .

all gas boilers use a flow switch including the one in your house ........if it used a pressure switch to fire the boiler it could fire up without any flow which would be dangerous  .
