Does anybody use a refillable gas bottle for there Eco temp type water heater? If so... Where's best to buy one? How much are they & where do you full yours? Thanks

I used to have an lpg car and as i was filling up a guy in a motor home was filling a standard bottle using some sort of diy adaptor so i can be done.

Our nearest Morrisons garage won't let you fill anything that doesn't have a filler nozzle secured to the vehicle. Not sure about the Jet garage a little closer.

I would check with your nearest supplier with regard to their policy BEFORE you shell out on these.

I've seen that before, thanks. For us our closest guaranteed filler station would be Darlington. For us Darlington is a 60 mile round trip. It could be worse; we could live in Whitby or Scarborough.

For us the saving using this 'bottle' couldn't be justified.

I don't understand how these are cheaper. I buy a 19kg propane for £26.50. That's 37 litres of gas which would cost 71.6p a litre. Factor in the cost of the bottle and I can't see any money saving. Have I misunderstood?

Yeh I used to be able to buy at £25.50 for 19kg, but they stopped selling it. And the others around ranged from £35 - £40 per bottle. And I had to travel 15 miles to get it to find they had sold out. So it is more convenient and cheaper long term for me to use a safefill.

You can get refillable lpg tanks/bottles that come with a lpg pump type fitting that you just mount on the side of the vehical for easy filling. If you use alot of gas then long term would be a more viable option than to keep buying exchange bottles of gas.

Most modern camper type vans are now fitted with this type of system.

  This company do gas bottles of various sizes also interesting they sell generators modified to run off of LPG bottles now that is a saving. As well as the generators they sell a kit to retro fit to other engines such as petrol power washers, pumps infact anything with a small petrol motor.
